I'm new to the COE group and am considering buying a COE that is all an original farm truck. I'm interested in building it into a car hauler, but see most folks choose to swap the factory ch***is for a late model motorhome or HD truck ch***is. Why do so many choose to swap out the ch***is? Is it for safety, availabilty of modern upgrades and options etc?
    Thanks.....

Thanks for the info. This looks like one of the bigger projects I'll be working on over time.
    Cheers!

Yeah, Me too. Got my COE already to pull off the original ch***is and my 85 Chevy 1 ton sitting next to it. Now the fun begins.

My 1938 GMC is on stock frame rails that have been streched by 32". Up front it has an early 80's one ton Chevy van front suspension with Air Bags. Out back it has a one ton dually Chevy rear end. For the engine & ****** it has a late 70's 350 Chevy V-8, turbo 400 ****** and a Gear vendor overdrive. It has a 15’ flat bed that lifts up hydraulically and a set of long ramps to get cars in the bed. Donnda is right, might be easier to swich ch***is. Here are a few pics:
