I am now a certified Carcheologist. I'm desperately researching the history on this thing in order to prove to the insurance company that it's worth saving. I've always loved the discovery aspect of old cars...finding them...finding the right pieces...etc....you all know...general carcheology.

I've found a few torn up pieces of paper no bigger than 1/4" in any direction and mixed in with gratuitous amounts of rat droppings. I've got a few leads and think I'll have more yet including the last owner in 1972 hopefully.

I did find this and I'm going to post it on the main board in it's own post for visibility too.

The car was serviced regularly in 196? by what appears to be HOWARD DEACH on Hollywood Boulevard.

Does ANYBODY know anything of this man or his shop on Hollywood BLVD???

I will send parts and prizes to anyone who can help me in my quest! I'm desperate! Thanks guys!

  3. Damn dude, sweet fuckin car..

Leather up and just fix it, make it better.

Howard Deach is a very unusually spelled name. His identity does not currently reside with information databases in the US. I will check business records for CA.

I'm more than happy to help you with this. And have more resources than you could ever get access too. Do you have an address or even a partial address?

No business, no ucc filings, no abc, no marriage records, no corps, no criminal or civil cases, no professional lic, no real property. Did that in about .76 seconds.

Got anything else? I can find your guy. We do this for major corporations around the world. What other info do you have? Anything. It may seem worthless to you but we can make things appear out of nothing sometimes. Meaning the smallest detail may lead us to someplace.

I can't make out the last name for sure but it's Deach or Deech or Beach or something real close. I'm told by the driver that there is a tag on the inside of the door that's perfectly clear that he saw before he loaded the car. problem is, that door is now wrecked shut in another state. I'll keep trying but I'm hoping to ring a bell with somebody here. If a fella owned his own shop in the 60's, he's likely either retired to somewhere else or the sky by now. I hope not!

He was probably looking at the car instead of everyone slamming on their brakes ahead. Too bad your hauler didn't use a closed trailer. Yep, as others have said, these construction zones are poorly thought out, and everyone wants to stay in the left lane too long, and then bam. It's like a broken record.

  10. Holy crap Scoob!

Just like a lot o' guys here on the HAMB, I been boned by insurance companies. But it sounds like these guys just want you to say BOHICA while they get the donkey(s)

If there's anything I can do (pick up parts and ship off; take pics of cars for sale, or whatever.) here in the NW; just PM!

It sucks but it's better than needing a new heart or something. If anybody knows of ANY 1959 Lincolns that I might be able to use for parts, I'm obviously gonna need one or two. Just let me know. Thanks all.

What really sux about this is that businesses dont realize or give a crap about a vehicle's historic value. To them, it's just another old car.I feel for you, man.I'd be taking anti depressants if it happened to me.Maybe someone creative can save her some how.

Like others have said. I will be more than happy to get involved with a Ham Relay or what ever is needed to help you out. You might give Jim House in Clastkanie, Oregon a call. I have his number if you need it. Gumpa

  17. Hi Scoob
Was thinking about your effort to track the ownership history of your Linclon.
Why not start at the source? Ford Motor Co. Since this was such a special auto they should have the sale records in their corporate files somewhere.
The Ford Museum in Greenfield Village could possibly be a starting point. This would get the original owners identity ,which is probably the most significant, the quickest way possible and provide undisputable evidence.

Thanks. I'm not familiar with Jim House? Is he a Lincoln guy? I contacted Lincoln this week and they are checking their archives to see if they have any information. I know they have sold many of their records to Kevin Marti but nothing before 1964 I don't think. I'm hoping they even kept their records from years prior to that.

Hess and Eisenhardt are both deceased and the records are not known to survive.

49Lincoln here on the HAMB tried to run the VIN and the black plates through the California DMV but the records have long since been purged since the car has not been registered since 1972.

I pieced together the papers from the glove box last night till three in the morning and they did not help other than give me the incomplete information on the shop on Hollywood BLVD.

I'm hoping to either find the owner from 1972 from Pasedena California or find this Howard (Deech, Beech, Deach, Beach????) fella from Hollywood Blvd. I don't have many options but it's better than nothing.

Tracking ownership has become a problem due to the privacy act. DMV won't give out information on previous owners and on top of that they take it off the records after so long, I tried that on the A. Thought it would be interesting to know the previous owners and even sent them a picture of it when I'm done hacking it up.:D

I've gotten two estimates back so far and I'm being told that the repair work would START at $20,000 to put it back into restorable condition. Then I could spend the $20-30,000 more to restore it. Ouch. There is more frame and roof damage than I thought. The insurance company has admitted liability but the police STILL haven't gotten me a copy of the report.

The insurance company told me that the maximum they will pay is $1800

Sounds like it's time to find yourself some legal representation my friend! (Or illegal if that will get you the same results faster :D )

Sorry to hear about your troubles with all this! Keep your head up and keep pushing for what YOU want!

  25. Be careful . You have a claim rep that doesnt have a clue of what the value your car is. I have seen this before and can predict their next reply.Ask for a new claim rep or a supervisor that has an understanding of antique values. Have them respond to you in writing only . Send them a letter stating you will settle for $???,???,???,???.??. (make you settlement offer as ridiculously high as theirs is low) This should buy enough time to get the proper legal advise you need . Hire an attorney/negotiator! This is only going to get ugly. Understand the principals of negotiating.( The person that controls the time controls the negotiation. Dont bargain with yourself. The opening remarks in a negotiation must be scripted.Knowledge is power. Calling a tactic out in the open renders it ineffective.ect). Make sure your representative not only understands the legal aspects of the claim but also understands the fine art of negotiating. PM if you need any help . I can give you a good understanding of the issues and how the insurance people will respond . Hopefully this will aide you in getting the right person to represent you. I,m a body shop owner that has been involved in these types of claims issues on a daily basis for many years.

DO NOT START taking it apart yet.
    Get pictures.
    Get MORE pictures.
    Get an appriasial NOW.
Your impulse is to start working on the car. DON'T. Dealling with ASSurance companies is a waiting game and will require partience on your part.

We need a resident HAMBtorney who can step up for HAMBers in situations where legal advice is needed such as this one (not saying the advice given here isn't good). Someone we can call upon when we have legal issues related to our hot rods.... Maybe even a whole FIRM of HAMBtorneys would be good to cover everything from domestic disputes over our cars to hardcore stuff like unclescooby has going on.

I'd venture to guess too much liability for no money. Probably even procluded from doing so in their insurance policies.
