My computer skills are very limited and at this point my machine and I are not really speaking to each other. Sure wish I had a 12 year old grandson that could come and fix it and teach me. Sorry!
To prepare HAMB ready pictures you have taken of your project start with the following process.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Take your pic’s and save them into your computer.<o></o> Now go to the LH bottom corner of your computer screen and click on the START button.<o></o> When it pops up, click on the ALL PROGRAMS tag.<o></o> Once this pops up click on MICROSOFT OFFICE followed by MICROSOFT OFFICE TOOLS and then choose the item called MICROSOFT OFFICE PICTURE MANAGER.<o></o> When the MICROSOFT OFFICE PICTURE MANAGER screen appears find where your pic’s are stored by scrolling down the LH column (usually found in MY PICTURES).<o></o> Once stored pictures are found you can select picture individually by holding down the CONTROL key and left clicking your mouse on each picture you wish to use on the HAMB.<o></o> I do this to all my pictures since it helps to reduce the pixel size of them for storage on my computer and sure makes emailing them much easier for send and for the recipients to open them. I use my pictures in jpeg format, other formats I have no experience with.<o></o>
Should you wish to select batches of pictures rather than individual items then this can be done by holding down the SHIFT key and left clicking your mouse on first and last picture of your chosen batch picture. If your selected pictures are not consecutive then this method wont work.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Once picture for reducing the pixel density are selected, move your attention to the RH column and click on EDIT PICTURES icon.<o></o> A new column of choices will appear, the first thing I do is click on the AUTO CORRECT button which helps lighten up your pictures, give it a second or two to adjust (if you are dealing with a large number of pics it will take a little longer according to the number of pictures you are reducing in density.<o></o> Once the auto correct is done click on the RESIZE icon further down the same column and a new column will appear.<o></o> Go to the CUSTOM WIDTH x HEIGHT row and install the number 640 into the LH box and 480 into the RH box.<o></o> Then move your mouse down to and click on the OK button <o></o>
Give your computer a couple of seconds to process and then move your mouse pointer upto the top LH corner of your screen and right next door to the orange colored shortcuts box is an icon that looks a little like an old TV set, this is the SAVE button, click the SAVE button and wait again while your computer processes your instructions. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> The folder which is storing your pics will pop up showing the pics you saved.<o></o> You may slowly move the mouse pointer over each picture of your chosing and hold it over the pic for a couple of seconds and a small balloon screen will open up and tell you the new size of your picture. This can also be done before you start this process to determine what size your pics initially.<o></o> For example most pictures out of your digital camera that I know will be of a size between 1.2 and 2.0MB which is too big for most applications used by non computer guys like us. <o></o> After the reduction process your pictures when checked will be of a new size between say 75 to 150KB which is much better.<o></o> Should a picture after being reduced still be too big, then redo this process until you get a reading around my estimate.<o></o> You have now finished the process of getting your pictures ready to load onto the HAMB forum.<o></o> The next step is to attach a couple of your chosen picture to your reply on somebody elses thread or onto your own thread. Both are the same process.<o></o>
Remember the HAMB as size and number (7 pics) limits for attachments so now you have your size correct then you are restricted to attaching.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> To proceed with attaching pics you either decided to click on the POST A NEW THREAD box or the REPLY box of an existing thread.<o></o> Basically you end up with a page that has a box for text entry the only difference is with a REPLY to a thread the text box with have 2 choices below it where it says<o></o> POST QUICK REPLY or GO ADVANCED, you will need the GO ADVANCED if posting pictures to somebody elses thread, a new thread already has you there.<o></o> Now you can just go about typing text into the box with the information you wish to provide.<o></o> Once this is done, you can click on the PAPER CLIP icon in about the middle of the top row of this text box and a new screen will appear called MANAGE ATTACHMENTS.<o></o> Click on the first BROWSE box which will connect you back to your picture folders in your computer.<o></o> Find the first picture that you wish to attach and click on it.<o></o> Within a second or two the picture folder will close and the link to your picture is set.<o></o>
Continues this process for up to 7 times or whenever you have attached the necessary picture for your thread.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Once done, click on the UPLOAD button next door to the row of BROWSE buttons and wait until you see a small list appear below on the same screen listing the picture you attached.<o></o> When that is showing, then move your mouse to the top RH corner of this screen and click on the CLOSE WINDOW button.<o></o> You will return to the original REPLY or NEW THREAD screen whereby when finished, you can click the SUBMIT REPLY button at the bottom of this page. <o></o>
Sorry about the number of posts used to load this information, but the system would not let me copy it all in one shot... I hope it will help you posts some pic's for us.
