Norm grabowski 1933-2012

17 pages in 22 hours shows that there was no better example of "salt of the earth" than Norm. I've heard nothing but good things about him. Wish I could have met him but glad he's in a better place. RIP.

 

One of the true Hot Rodders I would love to have meet. Sad news indeed.

RIP!!!!

Never met him but saw him at the Goodguys West Coast Nationals in Pleasnton CA. around 1990. He was putting around on a scooter shaped like a ASS. The scooter had a sign on it that read something about not having a hot rod so he had to pedal his ass around on this.(or something to that effect). He stopped so somebody could take his picture. He didn't have much patience that day cause he told the guy he had to pedal his ASS to the other end of the fair grounds. Of course he said it loud enough for everyone close by could hear and everyone got a good chuckle. What a character!

 

Man, I sign on to the HAMB this evening after a long day and find this. I am truely saddened by the news.

One of hot rodding's pioneers has left us. He was a great guy with an awesome sense of humor. He will be missed.

wow. While I expected to hear this one day, it still doesn't seem fair. I never met him, but everytime I saw an article about him, I read it like it was an article about an old friend.

On my coffee table is a copy of The Rodders Journal with a cover and article on the clones Von Franco did. It's been in the same spot, opened to the same pages, ever since I got it. It came out almost a year after I started my T Bucket build and was a source of great inspiration.

I've caught a few episodes of "77 Sunset Strip" and smiled everytime Kookies car sped by. I have a copy of the "Peter Gunn" episode that opens with some JD's thrashing the shit out of Norms T. It was that episode that let me know these cars can take it.

I never met him, but I'll miss him. Tomorrow, I'm going to a little used stretch of road near my house and drop some rubber in memory of a great man, artist, actor and hot rodder.

Thanks for the memories, Norm. Those angels are going to be pissed, when God tells them to scrub the tire marks off those clouds.

 

Have you ever stopped to think how lucky we are to have met and talked to our founding fathers...........not many others can say the same........................you gotta love

Sad news, R.I.P. Norm you will be missed.

 

Norm was one of the true visionaries of the '50's. An artist to come up with the idea and build something so totally unique that almost 60 years later, it would set in motion a chain of events that would change hot rod history forever. It'll be easy to find him on the other side. He's the guy with the beautiful flame T-bucket to live in the hearts and minds of hot rodders forever.

Norm was a true Roadster guy. We shared the same wind--- God's wind.

 

Very sad........R.I.P. Norm.

He was there through it all. When I was a kid watching the surfer movies at the drive in, he was on the screen. A true hotrodder.

 

RIP Norm.

 

One of the coolest guys that ever lived. I'm sorry to see him go.

Met Norm in Branson, MO many years ago. He invited a group of us to his house, down a long gravel driveway. Kookie II wasn't finished but in the basement with the Henway (bout a pound and a half) along with the biggest set of rockers (for a 'Rocking Horse") that I'd ever seen. Will always be one of my fondest memories. His 'Most High Polishness' decided my name should be 'Stosh'.

 

What a great bunch of tributes to a great hot rodder and person ! I crossed paths with Norm several times over the years and it was a priviledge and a pleasure everytime. As someone mentioned before , it always amazed me that he knew my name , given all the folks he knew. Yes we all lost a good one today but everytime I see a T bucket I'll see good ol' Norm lookin' back and smilin' !!

 

R.I.P Norm. A true legend, hopefully your bench racing with Doane right now !

He could draw and entertain a crowd. Quite a showman.met him several years ago thru a artist friend of mine in Branson.

 

godspeed to a man who will be missed by so many, so sad but the fight is over and its time for him to relax and meet with all the greats that have left us and spread some fun around heaven r.i.p our friend

 

I got a poster of his kookie car hanging in my garage, I take a quick look every single time I go in the garage, he was a real artist, his work has inpired so many of us, rest in peace Norm.

 

Truly a sad day but Heaven has another great hot rodder.......... He lived across the river from me and was a heck of a guy. Definitely will be missed, but I can not wait to see the car show and builds that they have going on up there!!
