So I've been getting more than a few requests for a Billetproof NorthEast in 2009... but I want to make sure that it fits in between the other shows that are going on in the area... from Pennsylvania to Maine in both time and palce.

What are the shows that are in the area?

    <label for="dlshows_ctl00_chkshowname">2009 Laconia Nationals </label> - May 22, 23, 24 - Gilford, NH
Good Guys Rhinebeck June 26-27-28, 2009
    Syracuse Nats - July 17-19, 2009
    Milltown - early Aug.
Jalopy Showdown - early Oct. Beaver Springs PA
Hot Rod Fallout - Mid Oct, Glastonbury, CT

any other shows I need to be aware of?

    some other considerations:

Host Club - if your car club wants to step up and host, let me know, this will help determine the area it goes to. A good host club can go a long way to making a good show

Area - Under consideration: Upstate New York? Albany? Scranton, PA?

Venue - Pitch me on a cool venue. Old drag strips? I'm sure there are some nice parks/fairgrounds to be had in any of the areas. Drive in Movie Theaters, Old AirForce bases, Converted Toxic Waste Dumps... whatcha got?

    Last but not least...

Cars/Participants - if Billetproof came to the North East would you drag your heap out to the show? Would your club come out and enjoy a day of Billetproof Fun?

There is a big show in Southbury, CT mid/late September. http://www.roaring-20s.org/main/car_show_info.htm

There *was* a show in August that was in Springfield, MA that for the last 2 years was held in Berlin, CT at the Fairgounds (about a mile from my house) but disappeared this year without anything being said. I was seriously bummed. Not sure if it is returning.

There is one at the same Fairgrounds held by the Summer Knights car club every April. Pretty decent sized.

What is this one in Glastonbury? I've never heard of it, will there be one this year?

  7. How about Beaver springs, between the Jalopy Showdown in spring and the Showdown drags in Oct? Are Carlisle grounds available? Lots of space there. GG had an event there years ago. Count me in. Fl is a long haul.

Come a little South and hold at Old Dominion Drag Strip here in Virginia. It's about 40 miles west of Washington DC. The Washington Metro area has about 4 Million people.

Labor Day Weekend is the date for both ***berland, MD and Lead East (and the Radir Wheels Party before that).
The Karb Kings GreaseBall was 9/20 this year.
And like Skidsteer said, you wouldn't want to go up against Carlisle or Hershey, not to mention the Jalopy Showdown or the Showdown Drags. Those are the 'bad' dates that spring to mind.

As long as the dates don't conflict, count me in for attending. I like the idea of a Billetproof NE.

Lead East attracts a "different" crowd.

    Macungie(sp?) is in Aug.

What other shows do the Right Coast ***ociation do, besides Syracuse ?

On average how many cars does a Billetproof deal get?
I understand that race tracks are a buisness but, as dragways go the management from Beaver Springs and Newmedia Dragways really like cars. As far as I know Newmedia doesn't have a hot rod type event as of now.
If you go to Beaver wouldn't that be like steppin' on Scary Larry's deal though?
The Violators just started their "Bash" in early May in Oley,Pa this year will get much bigger in up comming years.

Upstate NY. We have 1 guy that does his season finale at the Sidney NY airport. It is operating as well. There is room for probably 500-600 cars maybe more. He gets alot of em in there for his final show. That would be within driving range of Central PA to Western M*** and Conn. as well as downstate NY , upstate and probably some from Western NY. That show is set for this coming weekend and as far as I know the only one held there. Heathen here on the HAMB maybe be able to answer questions that I can't as he lives there I think

    May-Showdown in pa, Hershey
    June- Rockabilly Run
July-pretty open , theres the Road Devils in nj . rumble in the country rumblers nomads
August-Wheels of time and the Awkfest. at macungie, rumblers show in ny,
    Milltown 100 &#37;kulture show
September- Leadeast, Hotrod Hoedown, Mobtown Grease Ball
    Oct-jalopy drags
    Nov- pumkin run, vargo

Beaver Springs love the hot rods, if your looking in scranton you should talk to Jamie she puts on the rockabilly run in scranton area,
the violators put on a show in oley its a nice size location .. the park didnt like burnouts .
in Weatherly Pa where the Rockabilly Run was this year at the Flying aces park they allowed burn outs and flame throwing :)

  20. With the addition of GoodGuys it's obvious that the Pocono Raceway is looking for more activities. Little known fact is the track was designed so the front stretch was a dragstrip. I think ony one drag race was ever held there. How about some feedback from HAMB'ers there last week?

  21. Yup...someone did promote a half *** drag race there about 10-12 years ago. I went there with the Kowalski's and their Lynwood rail. Made 2 p***es and left.

Do you want to promote an event for traditional pre-1964 Hot Rods OR a rust-o-rod rockabilly rumble?

  22. How about working together with the folks who put on the Niagara reunion drags, G***er from all the US come and shoot it out on the 1/8 mile. three day event, lots of cars and lots of parking.

Held at Dunntire raceway park. Lancaster NY

We have New York International Raceway Park in Leicester, NY (30 mins south of Rochester). It's 1/4 mile. Been around since the 60's. Could probably handle 600-800 cars comfortably. Might have camping available. And the local county tourism board would probably lend a hand as well. The county would love to generate some tourism money. Maybe a couple Western NY car clubs could co-host.

The track was once known as Empire Dragway, Dragway 36, and Motorcity Raceway. May be renamed next year....I hope.

I'm going to the nostalgia drags this Sat, the 4th at Lebanon Valley in NY, near Albany. They are gonna run 1/8 for street cars and 1/4 for the g***ers and funnies.

I've never been there, sounds like a car friendly place tho from what I've heard.

    ~150 miles from north Joisey.

    thats what Billetproof is. :D

    good ideas guys... keep'em coming.

  28. I forgot about ths track at Leicester.
Vito Antonicelli is the new owner of the track in Leicester, NY. He is a cool guy and great builder of drag cars. He is looking for events for the upcoming year(s).

  29. Choptop - Definitly think that that the Scary Larry's shows are right on the money, but I like the idea of Island too. That place is cool, though I do wonder if it is a big enough venue, there ain't alot of room past the off track parking.

How about someplace like Watkins Glen or Lime Rock? Great place - lots of history - lots of space.

PS offer is still open if you need a place to sleep out this way. Got plenty of space.
