Event Coverage Northwest Deuce Days 2025

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RockyMtnWay, Sep 30, 2024.

  1. This one is going back under new ownership. Previous owner had it there in 19 and I bought it earlier this year. Lots of changes to make it mine. Presently sorting out fuel lines and still lots of little things to cross off the list.

My scroll finger hurts but I did find the photo I took of it in 2019. A lot of tricks in a plain white wrapper. White victoria.jpg

4A5A08A3-58A6-4F42-89C6-C1AB01764956.png My wife and I will be headed north from NorCal , booked on the ferry from Port Angelas . First time to Deuce days for us, third time for Maggie. Flew to NY state, and drove her home.
Hope to see the builder Tom in Victoria.

  4. That’s it. Cowl steering is gone unfortunately as there were issues with the box. Now has cross steer, an original 32 axle dropped by Okie Joe, original 32 split bones, 32 3 window dash with 34 Buick instruments and some other personalized preferences but keeping it pretty much the same as the previous owner intended. Really looking forward to driving it.

Too cold to play/work in the garage today so spent some time finalizing hotels at the pit stops for the trip to Victoria. Looks like might be 20 hot rods in the group we are traveling with, so should be a nice little parade from Alberta to Victoria. Staying under the speed limit all the way officer, of course.

Great question. Not sure it’s locked down yet.
Pit stop #1 is Revy and pitstop #2 is Surrey so we can catch an early ferry to the island next day. Between Revy and Merritt ??? May see some doing the #1 loop, some the Coq, and some may even go south to Kelowna and over the 97C to Merritt. Expect much beer, and much debate at pit stop #1. :p

Ya know, this caravan has to come through my neck of the woods. I can't make the pilgrimage to BC this year but when y'all need lunch, stop in Vancouver and I will meet up with you hoodlums. You don't want to stop in Portland, keep driving a few more minutes and we can find some joint off the super-slab for some eats.

I’m hearing there may be an “out of country” surcharge applied to hotels, restaurants, etc. in light of recent events...

Are short term , (ie -condo and home ) rentals still illegal in British Columbia? I think this law took effect May 1, 2024 after the hotel industry bankrolled lobbyists to push thru legislation. I know a lot of property management people were trying to negotiate thru this corrupt law. None of the other Canadian Provinces have this law from what I understand.

STAs have never been illegal, just unregulated not unlike most jurisdictions in Canada. Many regions are now requiring them to be registered for various reasons; sanitary and health reasons, income tax purposes and limiting the number of units per capita. A great number of affordable housing units have been changed to STAs for obvious monetary reasons, but the existing ones' still exist legally and are probably now safer then ever. Hotels just want to play on an even field.

Oh crap…..only four months to go. Tick tock, tick tock.
I’ve been slowly putting this roadster together for my son to drive and there it sits, basically untouched all winter. No heat in my garage so I have an excuse…haha.:p:p:p
I still have a few odds and sods to do on my Tudor too, but I better put some time in on this thing. Basically a wire and fire situation once I get the clutch linkage and dash/gauges done, and then I need to build a proper seat riser (weld er up and paint it), install the seat, fit and install the bop top, and then handle/fix all the nits that pop up during shakedown… so skitter skatter I better get at ‘er.:eek::eek: Better make a job list…
Oh yeah, and during the next ten days I gotta clean up and do some polishing on the Tudor as it’s going into the Autorama indoor show here at the end of the month. Dang I hate cleaning and polishing stuff (and if I weren’t so damn lazy…). This is the only time I understand the trailer queen thing…roll er out and dust it off. :D:D:D

The key for that for those of us from the states is to carry Canadian Cash.

If you are one who uses plastic rather than cash most of the time I am going to say use a credit card that is not your primary card to do your spending with while there. My primary card got locked when I went a restaurant that did indeed bring the unit you pay with to the table and I couldn't unlock it until I was back across the border on the ferry. Legit purchase but the bank must have thought that a purchase in China town in Victoria was sketchy.

That's a good looking roadster. Now that I have heat in my garage I could never go back. Garage time shortens up the winter immensely. Mind you, you guys down south have had it pretty easy this winter on what I've seen from my work trips down south this year.

Just for shits and giggles (mostly), I put my little Tudor in the 2025 Autorama World of Wheels here in Calgary. Was a nice surprise to see it win some pretty nice awards :cool::cool:
Sure was a bunch nicer when I drove it down on Thursday compared to trip home after the show was over on Sunday. Can’t say it’s never been driven in the winter now :p:p:p
Super ready for trip to Deuce Days this coming summer even if it snows going through the mountains (as it’s traction tested now). :D:D:D

Good on you for driving it! The weather sure changed over the weekend.

Just waiting on a warm weekend to pull the roadster out after fixing a leaking head gasket. Don’t want to be that guy dripping coolant in the Harbour in Victoria

Don't worry about a few drops of antifreeze, there used to be a paint factory right along the harbour.

I believe up until about 5 years ago Victoria was still dumping raw sewage into the Juan de Fuca Strait daily too

My plans might be changing and I'm working on a possible alternative plan. Would anyone have a spot for me as a passenger on the poker run?

Was hoping to see some more HAMB members posting pics of the cars they are driving out/up. Can’t believe we are at the 3 month mark in the countdown already.
    Tick tock tick tock :D

I had given up on the idea of going to Deuce Days because my wife said she wanted to go to China and we have had a few monetary setbacks but she said "go" so I guess I had better get serious about it.

  25. I was planning to go but work decided to send me someplace else. There goes my vacation.....

I've got to get my butt busy. No real place to work and being bunged up hasn't helped with progress except that I seem to have accumulated almost all the parts and pieces for the puzzle.
