On your v8 head conversion I think Chevy to Chevy would be easier than Ford to Chev.y My brother and I did a Boss Ford head to Chevy I have our photos posted on 6 cyl drag cars. A very lot of work.

Right on! Get it going, have some fun, and then you can always try different things down the road.

Great thread, great build, and some really nice fabrication. Oh and looks like some great food too! I am curious though about welding that chassis. TIG or MIG? It's obviously tacked with MIG. Any concerns about all that nice work fitting back together after welding? Things will shrink and move around a bit.

Those carbs are SU -6's (1-3/4" bore).

I usually head out to PIR on Thursday. Do you have a booth at the Expo? Marty also mentioned seeing you during the swap meet. Are you planning to go out to his shop?

We are loosing a couple of work nights on the car due to the Portland Swap Meet, this was cool though as Dad and I managed to beg our way into Marty Strodes shop to meet up with him and Walt (Casual 6) we had a ball hearing a bunch of old drag racing and dwarf car stories. He even tossed my old man onto his pit bike...

Dad has all kinds of plans for a similar builds, Marty was already instigating a race!:D

We did pick up this old bomber seat, gas pedal and a few gauges for the dragster though.

With a stock bottom end, and a street/strip style cam, what kind of stall converter should i be shopping for? Thinking if i picked ip a 3200-3500 stall it would likely stall much lower with the light weight car and not a lot of HP.....right?

Are you using the NICSON pedal as a pusher or puller and if you do use it as a puller, what conversion is involved.
    Warren

By the way, the wheel jig is awesome. Went from 5.5 to 4.75 in no time at all. Thanks

I'm just going to use it as a pusher, it has enough cable to loop behind the trans and come up the left side of the engine. I think i will have it turn a shaft with 3 bell cranks for the carbs.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the drill guide!

I picked up new summit racing converter advertized at 3500 rpm out of craigslist for cheap from someones stalled project. Should give us atleast a starting point, maybe even work great we will see. We have a local guy that drops by now and then building us up a couple of TH350's with stage 2 shift kits that can be ran either in auto of manual.

We spent most of the night modifying the seat to fit and making mounting tabs for it.
    20170419_194749.jpg

And making tabs to mount the side panels on
    20170419_194729.jpg

The seat will bolt back to this strap too when complete.
    20170419_194803.jpg

Dad spent some time modifying the gas pedal as it was made to be run barefoot, no ones shoes would fit in it.

suggest a toe strap on that throttle to allow the pedal to be pulled back in case of a sticking cable don`t know for sure but I believe it`s mandated in some classes

I picked up a NICSON pedal this weekend and you are right about needing small feet. I'm converting mine to a puller and I'm going o follow your father's modification and yes a toe strap.

Reviewing the recent photos I think the drive shaft loops are to big to contain it in the event of failure. You sure want to protect what is above it. Been there, done that.

The car has been moving along steady. The chassis is finished, painted and padded. The Harley wheels are modified and mounted, looking good with the Ansens. The 261 is installed and mocked up with the triple 97s, headers, hoses, cooling and fuel. Haven't started the engine yet. Waiting for the body to come back from the paint shop so this thing can get buttoned up. Really want to go racing May 20, we'll see.
    Thanks for asking
