Alright... I'm a newb.... so.... HI EVERYONE, DU-HEH. and I don't want to sound like a retard, but I'm currious. I know the meanings of tearms: shaved, chopped, channeled, and streched. but I always hear "nosed, decked, and sectioned" and i'm afraid i'm not sure what those tearms refer to. if you know, and have pictures for refference, I'd sure like to see them, cause I'd like to know what they mean...... thanks.... please don't tear me up to bad..... haha.

nosed = remove front emblems, decked = remove rear emblems, sectioned = remove a horizontal section from the body, like cutting two inches from the middle and welding it back together

Welcome aboard. here is a quicky.....

Nosed is removing all of the chrome, stainles, hood ornament etc., off of the hood.

Decked is the same thing but off of the Trunk.

Sectioned is the removal of metal within the body usually the middle of the vehicle and not the top.

See pics below of a sectioned vehicle.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

Chop is cuting the top to lower it. Channel is cuting the floor out an puting the body down over the frame.

A lot of people (including my dear departed dad) seem to think that chopping (cutting the roof off and welding it back with a few inches removed to make the roof height lower) and channeling (cutting the body off of the floor pan and welding it back on a few inches lower so that the body sits lower over the frame and floor pan) are the same operation, or must always be done together. They are two different jobs, and most chopped cars are not channeled and quite a few channeled cars from the East Coast are not chopped.
Channeling does not make the body "skinnier" like sectioning, it just makes the same body sit lower to the ground without modifying the suspension or frame.
Like premium said, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
(Although for some odd reason if you ask a question on the HAMB without saying it's "dumb" some members will jump all over you for asking a dumb question, so false modesty is always the way to go!)
