  1. Yep. But I like the "production" parts idea. Keep it more affordable. There are probably lots of old, mostly used up era-correct old race cars out there that would be a great start to building (or rebuilding) one of these.

I also agree that the "look" has to be of the era. The fibergl*** parts houses are gonna get lots of orders for snorkel hoods! :D

I like the idea of a nostalgia altered cl*** or comp coupe as well - iron block/heads, direct drive (or factory trans - stick or 2 spd), tire size limits and requirement to have a vintage "look".

This works for me. 4 spd and a Grump Lump.

  3. Maybe it's just me, but how the hell can "pro-stock" be vintage? It ain't old enough yet? It's kinda like vintage FC. Can't be just yet. To me the only "vintage" FC's would be the old Pontiac Catalinas, Mercury Comets, Ford fairlanes, Chevy II's etc with blown fuel engines in the "STOCK" engine position. Now those would be vintage.....barley

Heads up racing usually becomes "who has the most money" wins. An index system helps control that.

As long as they keep the electronics and throttle stops out, it should be fun.

Uh, this may come as a shock to you, but do the math. Next year it will be FORTY years, that's 4 0 years since the beginning of Pro Stock!

I know, doesn't seem like it to me either but that's the cold hard truth.

We're all getting old as hell! :(

Maybe if NHRA allowed the modern Pro Stocks to run EFI (and made 'em use stock bodies!), this Nostalgia Pro Stock would seem more nostalgic to us? Personally, I wish the nostalgia sanctioning bodies had gone to A/FX instead of funny cars, but what do I know? I really like the idea of iron production blocks and heads running heads-up. Maybe at the HAMB Drags?
I'm just glad there's a place to run my junk and enjoy some cool cars doing their thing.

It would be very hard to set up pro stock vintage cl*** in this day and time and I doubt it will make it if they do try. Bracket stuff is about exciting as watching gr*** grow and those of us that never did it and only ran heads up couldn't tolerate index or bracket. Old rules and old motors would not be to hard to control but would it be worth the effort? You have to fill the stands if it is to succeed and that's the next order of business. None of it will be cheap to do and with the economy what it is now is another hurtle to clear
