Mr. Allen Swift (Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.
He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!
He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it.
He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death.

It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch,
dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years)
That's approximately 2000 miles per year...
Just thought you would find this of interest.

OMG! That was AWESOME! She'd my new hero. I'm thrilled she lives in the next town over from me. I'm going to see if I can track her down and meet her.

Thanks so much for posting this Bob.

I did some work for my gf's great aunt- she was 93 and the neighbors were yelling at her cause she still went out, climed a ladder and painted her house. Her solution was to wait till they left for work! She still chops
    firewood too.

Her77 year old neice went in for surgury last year- the Doctor asked her who was going to pick her up- he almost fainted when she said my aunt!

Got to love those first generation polish farm girl genes!

  15. at some point grammas sometimes lie about their ages
saying they are older so people think how good they look for their age

they did not say what her other car was ...

I thought the best part was when she repeated the EXACT same story that half of the HAMB members have posted on here, joking about people saying "My grandad had one just like it" just because it had four wheels and a steering wheel. That, plus the fact that she can change the oil and plugs, makes her a lead pipe cinch for "Official HAMB Grandmother."

Somebody send her a complimentary Alliance membership stat!

  17. I love that. I wish my grandma was that cool!

  18. That would be super cool Denise... Look forward to seeing a thread on that visit!
