  3. I am NOT oblivious to anything & what part of "The seller was fine with the terms" can you NOT comprehend. Deals like this happen every day between Hamb members. I should know, I have personally transported more than 500 vehicles between Hambers. The fact is the seller did NOT stand behind his word. He could have easily called the buyer & asked for a deposit if he had concerns, but he didn't. If there have ever been any Paypal scams on the purchase of vehicles between Hambers, I have not read about them. One of the great pluses about dealing with fellow Hamb members is you can get a sense of who you are dealing with before hand & see about any issues on previous deals.

    God Bless

  4. What part of he changed his mind don't you get. The buyer hasn't been on this board for 8 years and then all of sudden starts posting again half of which are bitching about people not getting back to him like he is in some big hurry to get a deal done ASAP. Then all this nonsense with the delivery and payment. It all screams scam and I don't understand what you don't understand about that. The buyer isn't HRP or Moriarty or someone who is on here every day and the seller might have an idea of who he is. The deal was odd so he backed out. I don't blame him. Buyers have just as much responsibility to make the seller feel comfortable as the seller does and this whole process was not the way to do it.

  5. "Changed his mind" is just a fancy spin on "His word is no good"

This is exactly why I don't normally post on threads like this. I have seen you continue to post over & over to somehow make your opinion more correct on other threads & that is fine, I am not that kind of person. I glean no joy from internet superiority. Your opinion is that of someone who had NOTHING to do with this deal, so is just as worthless as the seller word.

    I'm Done.

In regards to trust, I just wanted to add this little tidbit to reinforce the element of
" Good people on the HAMB "

A few weeks ago, I had simply posted a picture of a 37 Old's grille I had, and I posted it, in the Friday Art Show ( FAS ). I posted it purely as art, it wasn't to be soliciting a potential buyer !

A fellow HAMBER contacted me via the PM and told me his story of how his grandfathers 37 Old's came into his possession and that he was going to restore it and would I part with the grille ? We conversed via the PM and it quickly was obvious to me, that he was a straight shooter and was very serious about purchasing the grille from me.

I said sure, its yours for the price I paid for it plus shipping. I packaged the grille properly in bubble wrap, and since he was from Morristown Minnesota and was a fellow tractor owner, I also sent him one of my Minneapolis Moline tractor shirts, free of charge.

Long story short, I sent him the grille before any money was sent to me, call me naive, but I have a good sense about people. The grille got there safely and his check came to me and it was good.

Granted, not all transactions go this smoothly, but like I said, I got a very good feeling from this fellow HAMB member. And in return he gave me a 100% positive feedback on the ratings.

The pictures are proof that there are good people out there on the HAMB and in the world in general.

Aside from the grille arriving safely and the money sent to me, more than anything, it put a smile on my face, that the 37 Old's grille went to the proper owner of a 37 Old's, and indeed, the project has a grille that is made for his grandfathers Old's.

I understand the “deal is not done until....” thing. Fine. But for those who say that, if you had conversations with the buyer and didn’t make that clear up front and you also agreed with the terms of the sale, would you still back out a week before it was going to happen? If so, you deserve a boot in your ass.
Now on the flip side, to me the seller just had remorse. What I don’t buy is the “wife won’t let me sell it” excuse. Man up. Tell the buyer the truth. That excuse is a lame fallback for so many who won’t sell or decide not to buy something. Defer the blame from you to another.

Some just can’t tell the truth and say “sorry, I’ve been thinking about it and just can’t let it go”. Whether it be a car or their parents coffee table.

Just be honest. There’s no legal law that says you can not back out of a verbal sale (that I know of, but didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn last night) but there is (IMO) a moral obligation to be honest as to why you are backing out of the deal.

I think the OP wanted to rant about it as he spent a lot of time and effort to set up getting the car to him. He’s probably sitting there and feeling not only did he waste his time, but the time of others to arrange the transport of the car.
It’s a safe bet that since the car was listed by a HAMBr, and the buyer is a HAMBr, that the deal started off through the HAMB. That said where else should the guy post his feelings about the deal at?
If the seller would just come on and tell his side of things honestly, maybe everything could be put to rest

Shit happens every day. Happened yesterday, happening today, gonna happen tomorrow. Best to be pro-active, not reactive. Whatever the reason for him to back out, it has happened. It's yesterday's shit. Move on and go find what you seek. They say there is a seat for every ass. True also regarding car seats.
It's out there.................... GO, GO, GO......:)

JMO but it seems as though this has been beat to death. Maybe time to move on and get back to tech or at least finding out that the make of car a member is inquiring about is a Dodge, because its always a Dodge.

  20. I’m sure it did at some point. We used to eat off it while watching “sporting” programs on TV. Not all the memories were good though. I remember my sister said I was “lame” for putting a brass YOM plate on the back.:(....;)

  21. Transport guy .. maybe deserves a "pain in the ass" fee for his efforts, to assist you in your attempt at buying. Wasted his time, I guess.

Otherwise .. you're b*tchin' about a car that neither buyer or seller could negotiate their business adequately.
