There are many good reasons for the HAMB, but maybe you have not heard this before.

Yesterday someone who has no idea about christmas spirit, broke into our house and stole all the Christmas presents, computers, Wii, Ipods and a car.

On my computer was all the photos i had taken of the 36 build. Well thanks to the HAMB i had created this thread and now can download back all the best photos. And here are some more......

Everything is ready just waiting for that Offy adapter, should be here this week.

The torque tube has had the new six spine adapter welded up for the new pinion, its the last big job i have to do is re-build the rear end.

The radiator has been rebuild, with that extra power comes extra heat!!

The back brakes are all finished now, infact thats the whole brake system finished. But i have a few left over parts and am not sure where they go, i will take some photos i know you guys will know.

PLEASE you know they never do these days, lets put it this way: a glass guy had come to my house measured up gone back to his workshop cut the glass, returned and installed before the police had arrived!!??!!

yea copper lines, they are sold here as brake lines. 7 meters of brake line written on the box, i brought it from an auto store. i didn't get it from HomeDepot!!

I guess it is not just copper it is mixed with a few metals like nickel etc. It is DOT approved and is very common in Europe.

So i hope you all had a Merry Christmas, well the last family member left today and i went form the airport straight to the shop and got busy connecting the transmission to the engine. She's done!! now i just need a crane and a few buddies, i hope to get it in this weekend.

A photo of the chassis, just sat there waiting for me to drop that engine.

I have been slowly collecting firewall BLING, and now i am more or less finished!!

This is a KING fuel filter and regulator in one, made in italy. i think it looks very cool and really fits in with the rest of the engine etc.

Next is a NOS regulator i picked up still in the box with 1962 stamped underneath it, which is pretty cool since my 283 is from 1962.

This is very BLING, maybe too much but it has to be done. Of course my coil does not fit so there's a few hours of slowly grinding the inside to make it fit.

And then i found this cool mirror..

Maybe not necessary but you might want to hook a battery to you engine and see if the starter engages and rolls over before you install it. It's just a little insurance that all of the components work like they are supposed to before its nestled in that cramped engine compartment and finding a glitch that's hard to get to. We have a saying that starts with "the best laid plans of mice and men.............:)....get it?
Love your build as I'm in the beginning stages of something similar. I've acquired the '38 Deluxe Coupe that Harrison here on the HAMB used to own. It's basically stock (engine, trans, rearend). I'm going for what a high school kid with a good part time job in 1960 (the year I got my license) would have built by finding a 265/283 in a junk yard and a good '39 syncro box along with a '40 rearend and front brakes and with a few affordable upgrades could have had to tool around in. I've managed the rearend swap and have the '39 box and a 283 punched out to 301 (fresh, not even fired yet), the adapter for the trans and related starter/clutch goodies. You'll probably be on the road before me as I've got a ton of projects that keep getting in the way so I'm definitely keeping an eye on your build.

    hi frank,

Well my plan was to put it on the rolling chassis and do a test there. i have decided to test fit everything before i paint everything, including the frame so the engine will be coming out again. i figured its just four bolts and a more sturdy engine stand if you know what i mean. Then just do a basic hook up of gas and electrics, Keep my fingers, and fire her up!!!

James, I am so very sorry that someone robbed you...man that sucks but I'm glad that it didn't tarnish you holiday spirits and you're back on the horse. The engine looks awesome man and I love the details like the silver Hurst mount. I also like the King Fuel Filter...I need to get one!!!! Everything is perfect from the Voltage regulator to your work on the brakes!

I can't wait to see it back up and running. My engine is now in the car and the clutch is hooked up. I also picked up a big box of freshly chromed parts like steering column, road draft tube, steering lock, fender braces, Valve covers, shifter etc. Ya know the essentials hahah!!!! I should be finishing the brakes this week and then I'll run the fuel lines and such. I am rebuild my own carbs and stuff so I am trying to research all that jazz right now. Getting closer as are you! Best of luck!

I was looking at the picture on page 5 of the motor mount installed is it touching the frame? If it is wouldn't this cause vibrations like a mofo. Maybe there was space and just didn't see it.

By the way love the car! I can't wait to get my 35 3w project started in the spring.

    hi jj,

thanks for caring but my attitude is fuck them, they will get whats coming.

thanks for the compliment, i feel its going good and am very motivated. i was very scared that with such a big project that you can lose focus and i did for a while. i thought about selling the project to buy a Knucklehead but now i am well and truly back. in about an hour i plan to drop the engine into the frame, i really wanted to get it done before 2011.

i paid $90 for the KING filter and that was brand new, where did you see it for $175??? it is a very beautiful item looks great on a firewall, but will warn you that my first one leaked and had to exchanged it, but the new one works great, no problems.

so when and where can i see all your chrome parts and engine?? you have sooooo many threads going on i getting lost and confused!!!!!!

What a GREAT job you're doing here! Sucks how it started out, but I agree with whoever said it happens all the time. It's just up to guys like you to make it all better! Keep it going!

I have the same fuel filter/regulator. Big cheese, indeed! (not $175 though) But in reality, if you buy a good regulator and a good filter it doesn't cost much more, looks cool, and apparently they work really well (haven't hooked mine up yet).

Keep going! Looking forward to the end result!

  19. Hey buddy sorry about the breakin but glad to see you're in good spirits.

That old coupe has got it in spades bro.

May the rest of your holiday be quiet and fulfilling.

Nothing better than a 3 window coupe... Nice ride and good luck with the build. I personally like the late 50's sbc look. Here's mine.

    hi gunswanted,

there is a little bit of space in between the mount and the frame, but not much.

anyone know how much it should be?? well in an hour or two i guess i will find out if there is enough!!!!!!

It's actually the wrong bracket, supported with a make shift support on top. I think it's from a late '70s sbc. It was on the car when I bought it. It's funny that you ask that, I just ordered a new one this morning!

Why not flatten the bottom part half an inch to an inch.

  30. Another thumbs up from me for the Filter Kings.

They ain't no $175! The most expensive is around $100. They come in many different combinations of filter/regulator/gauge etc.
