The big problem that I see with the Bolivian deal is the al***ude--at 12,500 feet the air is going to be pretty thin. Bonneville is bad enough at 4,000 plus and that is the big advantage of Lake Gairdner in Oz--it is at seal level. I can remember talking to Ken Walkley after he took his streamliner down to Australia for an early DLRA event. He told me "We just did not have enough fuel pump". Roo
This pulled from the Landrace site............The unblown Aprilia is running about 6 mph faster than Bonneville. The only thing I can think of is the motor likes the cold temperature and low humidity (15%). They are running 100 octane airplane gas they got at the airport. Also the freeway smooth rock hard surface lets them use maximum power at all times for as much runup as they need. Nitrous next with some of our 118 octane. It is a fully sanctioned FIM meet Charlie is here to keep things on the up and up.
A couple of my Oregon friends are down at Lake "Gad Nuh" as my Aussie buddy pronounces it. We will see how Marlo and the 550 gang fairs on some smooth salt.
Member Elmo Rodge from UT is on his way there...screw up with collecting his rental camper in Melbourne, so he's playing catch up as I type.
Apparently the Treit and Davenport Target 550 liner did not do as well as hoped. Dropped a valve early. Blew the clutch with collateral damage. Awful lot of work and money for this.
From what I can tell the best they ran was 345 which is a pitty because the salt was/is perfect. Valerie Thompson got to 328 on the motorcycle. Happy. FIA world motorcycle thing starts now, which Taylor and a bunch of the other motorcycle teams are staying for.

That's a great video. The audio of engines is music to my ears! I knew about Australia, but never knew about LSR in Bolivia. Is LSR done on any other dry salt lake beds?
I understand that a South African meet is being discussed. But I have not seen anything posted by my contact in some time. Not sure what's going on.
I would say that with the new political unrest in SA it will not happen. Austrailia is proposing visa for dispalced landowners
