This rig has been sitting outside a local bodyshop all weekend. So I walked over and snapped a few pics. I was careful not to post pics that showed the plates as it is currently licensed and don't want to upset anyone.
That one's a Chevy or GMC. I think Ford came out with their C series trucks in 57. We've got a couple C-8000's at the shop that are from the last half of the 70's. Can't remember exactly when they quit making them. Seems like they didn't make the gas C's past maybe the mid-60's and after that they were all heavier diesel trucks. Probably more of them used later on as garbage truck ch***is than any other use, mainly due to the better maneuverability of the short cab and set back axle. Years ago we had a 59 C-700 flatbed. Can't remember if it had a Y-block or an FE motor, but it definitely didn't have one of the 330-361-391 medium duty type engines. It was a good truck that gave little trouble over the years we had it, and was definitely easier to drive around town than a conventional cab truck, but like all cab overs, it'd beat your brains out on anything less than a dead smooth road once you were out on the highway. With the way the cab sheet metal is made in the seat area, there's not enough height left to be able to use an air seat in them. I always liked the looks of the N series Ford medium trucks that came out around 63. Snub nose job that didn't look like anything else Ford made at the time. I guess they weren't all that popular though as I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road, and around here its not unusual to see F-600's from the late 50's still in use.
nice looking truck. i would like to see the head ache board angled to match the back of the cab, i think it would look sleeker. awesome color!
Well coordinated with color and style.....plenty of vision with that cab.......I would like to see what is being toted around on it too, thumbs up to the builder/owner.
