It's been a minute or 5 since I last posted. Cars come and go with me.. not quite as quickly as underwear but pretty close. About 6 years ago, one of my dream chases became reality. 69 SS396 Chevelle, with the original 396 included (Not in the car at current) A few more cars cycled through my life, including the opportunity for a really nice '31 Ford fordor sedan... I learned something in that almost purchase. Make sure you fit in it! The sedan had a nice, curved bench seat... I fit great in it.. but getting in the door opening was a challenge! I ended up with a "pretty nice" 32 pickup. Steel cab and box, 'glass fenders. SBC/TH350, ford 8" rear with triangulated 4 link. Front is 4 bar, dropped tube axle, modern disc brakes. I had to replace all the polyurethane bushings in the front end after the second drive. The rear looks like Delrin, or some other type of white material. Bushings are fine. This truck came to Hawaii from TX sometime around 2010, and had just been hanging around and being taken on short rides. I've been tooling it from home to work regularly... and fixing stuff as things wear out. Put about 5k on it in the last year. A month ago I noted the front panhard bar mount was cracked around the lower bolt hole. Simple enough right? I could either weld it, or replace it. since it was cracked around the lower bolt hole, I felt it was prudent to replace it. Finding the correct one proved challenging. I found a nice polished stainless one from speedway, almost identical and bolts to the batwing, I ran into a few clearance issues. I had to trim the bracket for clearance. after I got it in place I noted the spring perch seems a little different than others I have seen. This is the style on it now https://images.app.goo.gl/4YHwSxunf3tHh6Gt8 The issue I seem to be having is the shackle nut is contacting the bracket. I do notice the lower shackle is virtually equal with the spring eye... I'm wondering if the spring is too long(it measures about 31-1/2" eye to eye I guess I am crawling under it again to measure axle length and get some pictures.
