Found this in a junkyard today that had nothing but late model scrap. It's had some creative sheetmetal work done to the rear to make a body but there is still lots of old tin left on it like two front fenders. The external rear view mirror mount with the "B" cast into it might be a good clue. Certainly a truck, but what make/model??

  2. It reminds me of something but I dont recall what, like the body was widend for a large passenger buss or something. I've seen that windshield somewhere before.

Except for the front fenders (which may be scratch built) the whole thing is scratchbuilt and sitting on some late model car or truck chassis. The "B" stanchions are likely from something not even automotive related.
    Holy moly.

    Filipino bus?!

Nope, the front fenders are definately not scratch built. They have a sleek compound curve to them. They apear usable too.

The fenders may be from an old car or truck but the rest looks like it was scabbed to gether from old tractor cabs, school buses and who knows what. The firewall is late model and the cowl top is something someone modified to fit, the little windows at the ends of the windshield look like opera windows out of a 70's car, it's got a Mopar LA smallblock in it and the tilt out windshield looks like the tailgate off a pickup topper or something like that. Save the front fenders and leave the rest of it where it lies.

Man, that thing's as ugly as a bag of smashed assholes! I'm sure the OSR guys would be drooling over it if it had a few skulls and spider webs.

it actually has the look of alot of the late 20s buses.. they had the extra little window by the windshield.. by the top of the cowl and the radiator it has the looks like it would be a snub nose model..found on buses or old tank trucks.from the cab back I gotta say its an abortion.
heres some pics of some old buses so ya can see what I mean..

It's the grandaddy of all ratrods. You ought to take it to killmullet.
It needs a woodsmoke still in the back (the original biofuel) and a crosscut sawbed for putting up firewood.
It's probably the first documented use of electrical conduit as a support member. definitely ford bedsides and firewall that makes it 50% henry. ribbed van roof...I could do it...yeah this gives me hope. Now I know I can build something famous too!
I'm going to get back out to cutting up that ford van for the 1 ton 3 window coup project.

  17. As you can tell by my screen name I like finding potential in most everything
If this could be had for a decent price, I think it would be fun to haul it home and lay it all out.
Looks like there are some interesting pieces there. Definitely some kind of heavy commercial use.
If it was me and IF the price was right I’d go for it.
You could end up with an interesting rod... or a POS, in which case you could sell it to one of the craprod guys, they would eat it up

PS I am one of the lucky ones I have an understanding wife...

So stupid - so ugly - take it home for the right price and see what you can salvage.

  19. If it's an early Bronco, the rearend is a good score.

  20. Looks like 8 penny nails holding that conduit to the firs wall? Man I hope that thing doesn't live to close to me?

  21. Hey you talking about me.....;)

    No idea here...looks home made!!

Can't see the chassis but looks like the engine/tranny and firewall are from a dodge ram pick up, probably a late 60's early 70's.

Some of the parts are bound to be something if you can get it all drag it home for a little bit. The radiator is worth like $50? worst case. Look it all over ... how much is home made? You will have to break it down... maybe this motor is worth something? The tranny? If it is an early Bronco chassis and rear... worth scrap. My 2 cents or 4

HA ha. I forgot... I edited wikipedia once to add that "A rat rod is a gaff-like medical instrument once used to save the life of actor Richard Gere in an urban legend"... and it was up like that for weeks:D

-Nope, the base vehicle is a Dodge Ramcharger, circa '74 or '75.

As already noted above, it's a Mopar small-block, early enough to not have EGR but old enough to have the electronic ignition. (Lotsa speculation- obviously it could have been, and probably was, mixed-and-matched.)

But that's a early-mid 70's Dodge steering column, and since the wheelwell is visible at the back, that means a Ramcharger (which was the Mopar equivalent to the old full-size Blazers.)

The whole thing's junk. Apart from maybe the mirror mounts (which are almost certainly something like shelf brackets or handrail braces, and not automotive) and maybe the radiator (which screams "really old Ford tractor" to me) and/or possibly the front fenders, the rest is worthless.

If you're lucky, the transfer case (I don't think they even made a 2WD Ramcharger) is a divorced NP205, and worth some bucks to the offroad crowd.

The engine's a core at best, and unless it's a 340 (extremely unlikely) LA motors are a dime a dozen.

The rest is scrap, and ugly-ass scrap at that. :D

    Doc.
