My buddy and I got arrested in Texarkana driving a buddy's 65 Riv back in 1970 cause it didn't have current TX plates. We had driven it all the way from New York City down to TX without the plates but as we crossed the state line, you guessed it.... I remember how sweet the ride was that first 1000 miles or so. I've always wanted another 64 Vette fastback. Been about ten years since I had the recurring dream where I remember I had stored that sucker in a building and had just forgot about it for the last 43 years ! I keep trying to remember what I used to eat during that time so I could have the dream again <bg> Billy
I agree. They have more beautiful, art deco lines than any car ever built. Period. The Zephyr is definitely number one on my list of cars that I want.
So many choices, J-2 Allard, '54 Hudson Hornet w/twin-H power, '53 Buick Skylark, '39 Ford standard coupe, 36 Ford 3/W, '41 Ford Woodie, whoops already have one of those, and the ultimate a '62 'Vette with both tops, 4-speed and stout 327. As long as we're just dreaming the list could go on for awhile.
Gotta be a '62 Full Size Pontiac... Of the 25 I have owned since '89, I can say from experience that they are beautiful on both sides of the sheetmetal. Well-designed, well-built, durable (err, except for the Cat/GP 3-speed automatics, but that's what Fabcraft is for!), powerful, comfortable, and on and on. (My YF refers to the '62s as my mechanical mistresses.) Attached you'll see the cover of the owner's guide and an invitation postcard I put together for this year's POCI convention (in hopes to corral all the '62s in the club).

I too have become obsessed with 63-5 Rivs within the past year. I am actively searching for "the one"....
65 Riv and 65 Cadillac. -For the most part, 64 was the last year for tailfins on a Cadillac so the Rivullac missed having fins by one model year.
I don't really think a true car guy can pick just one favorite. So if money was no object I would pick one from the 20s through the 70s. The 20s - It would have to be an L-29 Cord The 30s - The 20 grand Duesenburg The 40s - A black 40 Ford coupe The 50s - Without a doubt the Hollingsworth Nomad The 60s - I also love the Rivs, but I would rather have a 65 Dodge A990 factory super stock car. My 60s favorite used to be a 66 427 Cobra, but all the kit cars have taken away the excitement. The 70s - A GS 455 Buick
Howzabout the '56 Mercury Phaeton? That for starters. Add to the collection the 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL 2-dr hardtop, a 1949 Mercury Coupe, a '39 Lincoln Zephyr 3-window coupe and top it off with a '34 Ford Roadster.
Love the Rivi's, later Lincolns, but to me there are only three others that look as good from the rear as the front - '39/'40 Ford coupes, '57 Chevys, and finally my favorite, the '53 Stude - either hardtop or coupe. I'd settle for any of them!
It is obvious that our faves are something we have owned or were close to a one time. I have had some dandys in my long affair with the automobiles and would like to have my 57 Nomad, traded a 60 Falcon four door painted with a roller for it. The Nomad was glorious with about every option available, p.s.,p.b., powerglide, powerpack, electric windows, seats, factory air, auto headlight dimmer, black and silver interior and black exterior with a white top, wonderbar radio, full hubcaps with factory tri bar spinners. Yep, a loota stuff, a big "D", and I ain't talkin Dallas tore it from my grips. But what the hell, just materilistic foo foo. Maybe I wouldn't have enjoyed the dozens of other rides I was fortunate to own. And the beat goes on. If you don't love them Riv's, something is real wrong! ~sololobo~

I'm a crazy about everything that touch (HOTROD,KUSTOM,etc ,but the 63-64-65-RIVIERAS still are my favorite 60's cars...
'55 Chevy for me. And lucky enuff, I have one. When it comes to Rivi's, my all time fave is the '71 boat tail. I miss this car.... but I do still have its 455.
It never ceases to amaze me the number of different "perfect" cars that people name. That is one of the things that make this hobby(obsession) of ours so great. Wouldn't it be dull if we all chose the same vehicle. Love the Rivs(GM's factory custom) but also love my 31 Model A coupe, my 39 Olds coupe, my 65 Corvette convertible, my 68 Camaro and truly miss high school steel 41 Willys coupe. The 41 Willys are "my" favorite, perfect vehicle. Oh, wisenheimer, if your sick of this thread, why do you keep posting on it?
My first car was supposed to be a '55 Chevy 2d HT. Some things changed and we ended up going another route... I got a little 4x4 that I did have a blast in. Anyhow, as I got older I really regret letting the '55 go. One day I'll get another one. Here's a pic with me and my Dad... early 1980's...
