Scored a nice complete 40 Ford front axle this weekend for $50, and its in such good shape, I kinda hate to hack it up. I'm wanting to use it on a T sedan, but The forward mounted cross spring and stock wishbone is kinda awkward to use. Any suggestions or picks on how to mount a stock axle like this on a T??ThanksPA

I have yet to see a front mount spring on a fenderless car tha looks good.

Don't feel bad about cutting them.....that's what we hot rodders do. I cut an NOS 46 wishbone for my 32 and might cut a really nice 32 wishbone for my 34.

you just have to say to yourself, it can be put back to the way it was, by somebody with enough passion, even if you have to lie to yourself.

Cut em' off......But save em' for a spring over in the rear.

I split mine slightly to let the engine sit back further. Not bringing them out to the rails allows a good turning circle. And that long front spring does give a good ride.

    Your choice - your hacksaw!

Monkey...That has to be the best looking spring infront of axle car I've seen. Most make the mistake of mounting the front mount spring in the stock crossmember. Making the wheelbase shorter.

Muttley....I guess there are a couple that look good. I'd like to see a profile shot of that one. Looks like the wheels might be back a bit. Very nice car otherwise.

I know these arent what you asked for but I thought you might want to see them anyway. Royalshifter may have some better pics of the car, it belongs to an old friend of his.

I was planning on running an unsplit 36 axle spring in frontsetup on my 29 plymouth, but now i got an early plymouth tube axle setup instead, even though dual leaf isn't as "pretty" as transverse...
