only issue i see with the whole build, is the possibility of your smile blocking the entire windshield while driving, lol

Beautiful truck. Fantastic craftsmanship. Awesome engine. Better adjectives escape me.!

  8. Your truck is AMAZING! People with skill like yours and a vision to build a very radical fenderless pickup that looks this good make people jealous. The guys who critisize these builds, wish they had the money, talent, creativity, and craftsmanship to even come close to produce something of this caliper regardless of the body style. I don't understand why people write a comment to critisize it as non traditional when the title states "Not your ordinary 40 Dodge pickup?" I would love to have an 8X10 photo of your truck sitting at the starting line of a drag strip somewhere!!! If you ever do this, even if you don't run it, Please send me a pm! BEAUTIFUL BUILD

I have no idea how you could make a statement like this without explaining yourself or expecting repercussion.

Chop top - Yup, they did that way back when = Traditional
Severe channel - Pretty sure that's Traditional
    331 Hemi with a blower - Yup = Traditional and totally bitch'n
Awesome paint and craftsmenship - Not a Rat Rod and gee, they certainly did that way back when
Whitewall cheater slicks - Check - Ok they are new Coker style but they are correct
12 Spoke skinnies - way cool
Bomber seat interior - Oh yah
Jag diff - Been around on rods since they invented the set up
Fenderless - I'm thinking that No-one has ever done this before...

The ONLY thing I can see as being non HAMB friendly is the air ride, yet there are dozens of examples on this board of tail draggers and rods with air ride.

Don't like the packaging ?? Not traditional "looking" ?? Then we might as well toss all the threads with the Purple People eater or anything Littleman has posted cuz I'm sure nitrous isn't traditional and Death's Doorstep is suspect in it's presentation.

Your reponse on this is welcome...

I see your not wasting time worrying about the Haters! Good for you. Most of them were nothing but street rodders and Camaro dorks just a few years ago, who like most people jumped on the "traditional bandwagon" as soon as they bought their first copy of CK Deluxe.

Keep on keeping on because that is one of the best built, and beautiful Hot Rod pick-ups I've seen.

Just found this thread and it interests me because I'm building a 36 Dodge truck myself. While there are a few things I'd done different such as the top chop and having the top of the carbs above the cab, I can truly say I like it. I've never been into the rust and faded paint scene, shiny paint or smooth flat colors just look better to me. In the title it states not your ordinary 1940 Dodge pickup build, and I can say it's far from ordinary. Some will like it, some won't, but no one can knock the craftsmanship of the work in it. As long as the owner/builder likes it, that's all that matters to me. It's his dream, not everyone else's. Ride that dream!

MillerLite, I've been folowing your build and will say right now WOW! great job!!! You have stuck with the job through thick and thin. I love just about everything you have planned and done on this truck. I've always been told and have come to realize for myself that if you don't have something good to say, it is best to not say anything at all. You are doing a good job of disregarding the poor comments.........I thought this was a site that welcomed commradery and a sharing of a passion for hot rods. I love your "Traditional" hot rod and your enthusiasm:D Al vegas

MillerLite, just got done going through all 12 pages of your build thread. I am a hot rod gearhead through and through. Cars, trucks, bikes, I dig them all. I joined the HAMB to share what I know and love to do with others who have similar interests and passions. Talking to each other, sharing ideas, and building our own version of what we all see in our twisted little brains is what it's really all about. This to me is more "traditional" than any one brand, style or even an era. I have my preferences, of course, as do all of us. I understand that many on this site would like to keep it "as it always has been" and that's ok by me. Stagnant water needs to be refreshed once in awhile by new rain, otherwise it just dries up. I personally love the truck you have dreamed and built yourself. I appreciate the amount of personal time, effort, and skill it takes to get it done.

    Great looking truck.

I have a question about the rear end, you foresee any issues with your setup? I always read that you will run into issues if you only run the one set of shocks/coilovers/bags. Something about more stress on one end of the lower arms.

I didnt use the shockwave system (bagged shock) I went with a pneumatic piston and friccion shocks. I know it is primitive but it keeps pressure on both sides of the arms so less stress on them.

Forsee problems, well it is all handbuilt and designed by me so only time will tell. Nothing in this truck is off-the-shelf so there is always room for issues whem you fabricate this much in the project. I did major research and used a lot of experience on air suspension to try to avoid problems, but I never aired a Jag rear end before lol ...

  26. Very Well said, and when they jumped on the "traditional Bandwagon", they probably purchased a ride, instead of building one!

  29. All I worry about are the halfshafts and U-joints staying in one piece with that motor. Great job, have fun and ease into it.
