Hello all. I have been lurking all winter. Last fall I was given a 65 Chevy Fleetside. (see sig.) A buddy of mine at work bought a McRanch (or is it McFarm?) and the PO had an unfinished project that needed to be hauled off. Just a case of right time right place. I never wanted to restore. I always admired certain aesthetics that seemed to run contrary to most folks around me. Of course anyone reading this knows what I am talking about: clean lines similar to a Japanese design, or a 50's sensibility, with a touch of camp from the Atomic Age of Design. I take all that very seriously. So once the pickup literally landed in my lap- I set off to researching. In my travels I discovered the HAMB and another site called The Stovebolt. I've been lurking on both for about 6 months. I've joined both here recently. The Stovebolt site speaks more directly to my make and model of the free beast that came my way. The HAMB speaks to me from not only an aesthetic point of view, but a sense of "outsiders" being together, a certain reverence for the who, what, where, when, and even the why of what we (mostly you, but soon to be me to a certain extent) do. I don't have a jalopy, or a coupe, or a merc, or a lowrider. I do have an appreciation of what this site is about. And I plan to apply what I learn here on my 65 pickup and then help anyone that comes behind me. I hate talking about myself- especially knowing that no one really reads the New Guy Threads. But, I did want to be on record saying how much I appreciate the site and the folks on it. You (now: "we") have a good thing going here. I thought about the Alliance membership, I'll be doing that next month. (3 checks next month!) Glad to be here and thanks again.
