just wondering what you guys thought of this editorial. just got done reading it, and it kinda leaves mixed feelings for me. i dislike imports as much as the next guy, but they are talking about seizing cars in cali for street racing. im not saying street racing is good, especially when you get these guys going as fast as they do on public streets, but what will they define as street racing? just wanted to know what you guys get from this. trey
Havn't got the current issue yet but... Street racing is illegal. You can be ticketed, arrested, have your car impounded, etc. Those who participate in street racing know that and participate anyway. What is street racing? Two guys at a stop light duking it out isn't street racing, legally thats just reckless driving. Street racing is when a group of people gather at a designated location, make wagers, then race their cars or bikes at illegal speeds. Yeah its dangerous, but some find it fun and entertaining. If the racers or spectators get their cars taken away, I don't feel sorrry for them. If they get themselves arrested, hurt, or killed, they knew that was a possibility from the beginning, and they lived with it anyway. Seizing cars is just going to be another risk they will either ignore or live with.
It's a wait and see what happens thing I think. Some Gestapo-cops might decide it's ok to snag cars just becsuese they look fast, don't know yet. If the cops start "stealing" cars because they take off from a light faster than Granny in her Excel then a get even street war might start.
