Those of us long-timers here have seen the factory Isuzu Rodeo (and Honda? minivan?) steering V-boxes, but I just came across this in the FB COE/1-ton group: https://www.flamingriver.com/vdog-variable-angle-gear Nifty but not too thrifty. I do like the swiveling end. JML
I like how they call it a "variable angle". It is a corner gear with some sort of U joint inside a ball enclosure like the old 4WD front axles. Flaming River = Flaming Expensive! This is 2 ball shaped gears inside a trunion that truly is variable angle, although too light duty for a steering shaft. www.mcmaster.com/shaft-couplings/extreme-angle-geared-single-u-joints/
that's cool. If that was in place of my $25 Rodeo unit, I would not need to have the front wheels pointed straight ahead to tilt. It looks like this unit would accommodate an "angled" tilt where my Borgeson on top of the Rodeo unit will not. Yeah, 700 and 1300 is a considerable price tag....
Yup, wasn't hard in New England. There were lots of rotted examples around. Wasn't something else badge engineered from a Rodeo also? Honda maybe??
Mitsubishi used them in the L300 van, late 80's to late 90's. Not sure if you got them in the States but there are plenty down Under. I use one in my A100 copy I built around 10 years ago.
