    In ,64/5 at the Colesium in Denver I saw & still have slides of: Roths Outlaw,Mysterion,Beatnik Bandit, Surfite. Winfields Wild Dream. Cushenberrys Dream Rod. Jefferies Manta Ray. X-Ray by(?) I looked forward to seeing in person what I saw in the mags. Cushenberry was rather my fav. & El Matador (never saw it) as Ala Kart. These were more customs than Novelty tho I think. Some of this stuff is whacked but, thats a part of Hot Roddin.

    Nice to see the novelty has not worn off this thread.

    Seems novelty vehicles could be making a small come back as I hear talk around quite often these days from folks with ideas.
    Must be something about recessions that stimulate this kind of stuff.

    KEEP EM COMIN!

    So,here's my $.02:If they can be driven,they are a custom or theme car,not anovelty car,because my understanding is a novelty car is meant for show only,and not to be functional..I would call quite a few that have been posted custom theme cars,like the Munsters Koach,or Dragula,or the Red Baron clone,but some like that Bathtub contraption and a few others are novelty.Novelty has no function,just there as a prop item,for show only.

  14. Nope, you have to come to the midwest for the really weird shit! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Hell, pyramid's are nothing new to Illinois. Jim Onan built a golden Pyramid house in Wadsworth, IL in the 1970's.

    [IMG]

    The Pyramid car website says coming soon, but the logo is the same car...http://pyramidcar.com/

    Greg Zanis' Dream Car is a solar-powered pyramid on four wheels that he built at home with the help of his two sons. Deceptively fragile, this little one-seater weighs in at 8,000 pounds, but its 80 batteries powering four electric engines really make it shift. Find out how fast, and watch the video of it pootling along a wintry Illinois street, after the jump.
    <EMBED src=http://www.youtube.com/v/uRi2j_r0KRs&rel=1 width=475 height=391 type=application/x-shockwave-flash wmode="transparent">
    Greg claims he can get his dream car up to 45 mph. The vehicle can run for 80 miles on a single charge (it takes around four hours to juice the battery) and has all sorts of fabulous extras, such as an in-car heating system, electric brakes, gel-filled tires and lowrider-tastic neon lights.
    The Dream Car cost the Zanises $60,000 in supplies, and who knows how many hours of their time. Now looking for financial backers, he says he needs $40,000 to build a Mark 2 prototype, and aims to get its range up to 500 miles.

    Eco factor: Energy efficient electric car
    Created by Illinois inventor Greg Zanis, the Dream Car 123, in spite of its weird appearance manages to be a life saver because of its high efficiency. Shaped like a pyramid, the car looks like it’s escaped from Egypt. The windshield made of bulletproof glass is in the form of a cone and surrounds the passenger on all four sides. The windshield is tinted and the car comes complete with mirrors and sun visors. This one eliminates many traditional car systems to produce an automobile that is more efficient, faster and safer to drive than today’s mechanical car on the street. The vehicle uses solar power during the day and wind at night as the energy source.
    <!--more-->
    With the increasing rise in the price of gasoline anything functioning on alternative energy seems like a welcome change. This automobile also tackles the street at about 45 mph, with an 80-mile range. A single 3.5 hour charge provides about 240 miles of driving for only about $5 in electricity cost. Once out in the market, this car might range somewhere between $16,000 and $24,000. With few modifications in the looks department, this car could go way ahead!

    The Dark Side:
    The thought behind reduction in usage of gasoline is awesome, but just because this particular vehicle is eco-friendly automatically doesn’t makes it the best thing in the world, does it? In USA, a gallon of gas currently costs $3.7, now let’s assume that this car gets 40 miles to the gallon carrying around 4-5 people. That’s 200 miles to the person-gallon-mile, for $3.7.
    [IMG]
    This vehicle can only take one person 240 miles for $5, which is more expensive per person than driving a hybrid. Plus, gas is readily available, in case you’re running low on fuel, and in need of a quick boost, whereas this thing takes 3.5 hours to charge. Eco-friendly cars, apart from being good to the environment, also need to be carefully crafted with practical functions to make them go a long way. The appearance of this car is a big turn-off.

  15. $60K for aluminum framing, colorplast body panels, a 12 hp electric drive, maybe a $4000 controller, a super cooler in their world neon kit, (shows off the plastic body panels lest you question the "bullit proof" glass) a boom box and some batteies?!!! There better be some spiffy battery technoligy in there somewhere.
    Rat rodders of the north, please note the hair drier cabin heat system.

    Yeah, I remember seeing in the mid 90's a pickup truck in Phoenix AZ which ran a single motorcycle from wheel and had an operational tipping box.
    I guess that would kinder fit into this category.

    No pic's however!!!

    Hi All,

    Some pics of Alvins Acorn taken at the Stotfold Show UK on 07-08-2010. My mate Dave Woodfield was the custodian of it for a short time while he was doing some work on it for the owner Gary Hillman.

    Hi All,

    To dispell a myth as you can see it is quite driveable, Dave Woodfield leaving the show in it.

    Hi All,

    "Sand Draggin".

    Pictures taken at the Hot Rod Supernats UK 25-07-2010.

    This was another car owned by Gary Hillman and that Dave Woodfield was the custodian of whilst it underwent a total rebuild.
