I need to remove the knob on this style wiper motor. I've pried as much as I dare and attempted to unscrew without luck. Appreciate knowing how someone has removed one without damage. Ron whip.jpg

I just bought one of those a couple months ago and installed it behind my headboard. I needed to install a separate switch so I tried removing that knob with no success. It will break, it has a strange cheap plastic connection, not anything you’d expect, the knob reaches clear inside the unit.
I ended up leaving the switch to the on position and running the Hotwire to a separate switch.

Why did you need a wiper on your bed? What are you wiping? :p

Wait, what? Not what I meant, but I see what you did there.

  9. You could try playing a heat gun on there, just carefully so it doesn't start burning, and try prying it off. Although it sounds like it is a thermoset plastic, so heating it won't do a thing. If you don't care about keeping it, bust it off. Replacement knobs would have a grub screw ,or the shaft could be a metric spline, knobs available for these, too.

Does the whole top cover come off?, from memory (on an older but same looking w/motor) the cover was able to be removed, and a clip was on the inside securing the switch pivot..

Whole top cover comes off with that one screw. The switch is a piece of copper that hits the contact .

Actually the knob is held with a screw through the cover to switch as shown. Ron wipemot1.jpg wipemot2.jpg wipemot3.jpg wipemot4.jpg wipemot5.jpg wipemot6.jpg wipemot7.jpg wipemot8.jpg
