Now THAT'S a hood ornament

Man this is so wrong is even hard to say what is actually wrong w/ it!
Holy Jebus, y'know what it looks like to me, it seems like the rat is gettin out of the elevator,
and now hes jumpin head first in the concrete to avoid any association w/ the "car"......

 

Here's one that's been around a while, I snapped it at a show a few years ago.

 

Just run the overflow tube up through the ornament. Imagine the fun as you stop in summer traffic at a pedestrian cross walk.

 

This one started out life as a hood ornamnet for a 52 Chrysler.
Now I call it the "Angel Of Death."

Well, there's one Mopar I don't mind having a chivvy in it . . .

 

To avoid this trick the owner has expertly removed the offending parts. No brakes, no problem!

That car wasn't built so much as someone crashed through a barn with it and that's what it looked like when it came out the other side.


The best I can do on this thread is a guy my buddy later bought a '77 Monte Carlo from, was running around with the top of a bowling trophy for a hood ornament. Which, of course he kept. It probably was the best part of the car, when my friend had it it threw a rod out the oil pan. Still ran though. Sorry no pictures, I didn't see the sense in wasting film on it at the time.

I saw a mid-90s Mercedes at the gas station yesterday. Couldn't fix the busted parking light, but the Merc hood ornament had been replaced by some kind of big clear plastic bird thing, like 4 inches tall or so. If this thread had been up sooner I would have taken a picture.

 

Yep, they used to have pages of different styles of hood ornaments years ago. It could also have come from Pep Boys or Western Auto in the same time period.
