Never mind the Ardun headed flathead on the floor...I'd hate to guess the combined value of all that stuff.

Give the guy a break, [IMG]

I'm sure he bought it all yesterday for $1 [IMG]

I bet he has been burning the flathead candle long before anyone 'recently' jumped on the bandwagon.

And if he hadnt, where would all that good stuff be now??

Probably would be a hyundai head!

From what I can see you yanks have an obsession with collecting things, I reckon you would collect dust if you could label it! [IMG] [IMG]

I like to think of it in terms of a museum, its good to know its being preserved, it may not be being used, but its not gone and forgotten,

PLUS as I always say to a mate of mine who has a bit of stuff he wont part with ( and hes much older than me)

I'll wait for the clearing sale [IMG] [IMG]

I have to agree with flatoz, the guy probably collected most of this stuff back when guys were ditching flatheads in favor of faster engines, or putting rods out to pasture and buying muscle cars instead.

Years ago, I read an article about a company (don't remember who) that made aluminum intakes for inlines and flatheads back in the '50's. There were pictures of pallet loads of new castings, ready to be machined and finished. What happened to them? The market for inlines and flatheads dried up, and they were melted back down to cast wheels and other stuff that was selling well at the time. [IMG]

We're lucky to have pictures of this guy's stuff to drool over, nowadays.

Heh, heh, collecting dust; you're cracking me up. The only dust I'm collecting is on the crap that I'M hoarding.

now that guy is a hotrodder!

I cant imagine how much time and effort went into this collection. Truly amazing.

but I guess if you had 500,000 bucks you can just buy the auction above and be a instant hotrod legend.
but, at that price it is 3000 bucks per intake.

I thought buying in bulk was suppose to save you money???? I guess not when all the hunting is done for you.

    great pics!!! thank you.

In the book Ultimate Garages, there is a pic of Kent Bash's garage with a large flathead intake collection.

  12. holy crap...that 500k dollar collection is awesome. wow. Man, how cool would it be to have a bad day and just go out to the shop and stare at intakes as your blood pressure goes down, and a calm soothing feeling comes over you while caressing the intakes...mmmmm a man can dream right?
