numbers stamped on block

    the 6 cyl 235 ci has the following number stamped on the machined plate in the casting 0983408F54Y can anybody tell me what this means , other than it's out of a 1954. Its mated to a powerglide and sitting in a 1950 chevy sport coupe deluxe.

    I don't have very good info on the 1954 engines, but I think the F54Y just means it's a Flint built 1954 car powerglide engine. The long string of numbers is the engine serial number.
