I've got Granada discs on the front and a narrowed Explorer rear with discs on the back. I have a Wilwood adjustable proportional valve hanging on the wall and a disc/drum Granada master cylinder. Should I use the adjustable valve and Granada cylinder, or should I find a disc/disc cylinder somewhere? I don't want a brake booster, just manual discs. The master cylinder I have is for manual disc/drum and this is going on a '54 Customline. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Just a question , why would you not want to run a booster? is it an issue with space?

You really should use a master cylinder specifically for a disc/disc set-up. If you use a front disc/ rear drum master, the rear brakes will apply and won't release. There is a check valve in those disc/ drum masters to keep residual pressure in the wheel cylinders. I would not recomend using a disc/ drum master for 4 wheel disc brakes.

youd probably want to get a corvette manual master cyl from about a 68 or so . they had disk on all 4 . but i too wonder why not use a booster.

Don't have the room for a booster.

Could you use a factory fender mounted booster? They mounted on the left inner fender ('55 and I think '56 Fords).

Just checked with OReilly and the Corvette master cylinder is $24.95 for a remanufactured and $45.95 for new. Looks like this is lots cheaper, cleaner and neater than for a booster.

you might have to modify the length of the push rod . but not a big deal if you can cut and weld.
