We have a very special tape ,only one copy in existence, that needs to be burned onto disc for preservation's sake....I don't trust some commercial place where no one cares...it's our wedding tape....and living near the water,salt-air,etc. plays havoc on tape.....anyone here who will handle this with kid gloves? Thanks in advance.... Oh yeah, it IS related to the board in a way....
got the same problem sort of got a couple Aussie tapes from their events but my machine runs it too fast ,like fast forward, can here mickey mouse type voices, but too full of static to see em,whats to do with em or are they s****?I am thinking itys because of the 220 to 110 volt thing, so kinda the same deal or at least VHS related.
Mike...maybe you have a format problem? Like, needing to transfer PAL to VHS...I think ya gotta hook both machines up like you would a regular dub....
both tapes say vhs on em , but I'm not sure whats what with these ,video guy I am not ,lol, prolly have to take em in somewhere as I only have a vhs machine.
Mike - PAL format VHS is what the rest of the world uses, whereas the US uses NTSC VHS format. The only way to play the PAL is on a PAL machine, or have it professionally transferred to NTSC format. It can cost anywhere from $50, to $150 to have it transferred. Hope this helps... Mutt

You could download Window Media Encoder and purchase a video card for probably the same price as you would pay for the video to be converted. Then you could save it as a high quality Windows Media file that you could play on your computer. I guess you would still want to play it in a DVD player though. If you are already willing to pay someone to transfer it, you could own the DVD burner for your computer and do it yourself, along with everything you own. Have you checked out Something like this at Best Buy? I understand if you are trying to get the help of a HAMB member first before spending lots of money. I'm just brain storming out loud for you.

Mike, Your tapes are prolly copied in Long Play, so you can fit 3hrs of film on a 1.5hr tape. Find someone with a VCR who can play LP tapes.
