i heard on the news this evening they are saying some of them were set.......I don't even know what to say,
They have arrested one person for lighting one set of fires but are still going through investigations to prove this. If someone actually did light these fires purposely they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. My Condolences.... Charged.
The guy charged was a 31 year old cretin from the central coast nsw. he lit a fire near the f3 sydney to newcastle. Refused bail. I hope he enjoys the prison sex.
The one near devilrod was set off by a tradesman using an angle grinder. he has been charged today with 'action endangering life and property' or something to that effect. I think the loose translation is, he was charged with being fucking stupid!
The arson squad moved into the area today, anyone found to have set one of these fires will be charged with MURDER.... Death toll is now 136 and expected to exceed 230. It's Australia's worst ever national disaster. Here's a photo gallery, some awesome pics in here, but some graphic ones as well. (No bodies though) It will give you just some idea of what's going on. http://tools.goldcoast.com.au//photo-gallery/photo_gallery_popup.php?category_id=3791&offset=0 Cheers, Glen.
i always believed people who do horrific unspeakable crimes, ought to have the same done in return. I'm sure there is someone there who would love to light up this sick bastard.
Ok some slightly good news but still not the best for Bertieboy. From Pete at Toprodz... Sean (Aushotrods) should be far enough away to be fine and Dan (Pyschobillyboi) has posted since all this shitfight started.
Speculation at this stage but it's believed the big one, expected to end up having taken over 200 lives was started by a cigarrette butt flicked from a car on the Hume Highway at Kilmore. And people struggle to understand why I get mad every time I see a fag butt flicked from a car???
well at least it wasn't intentional, the sick SOB's who drive around starting these on purpose, if you ever doubt evil walks this earth, they are proof it does.
no rain in five years, how stupid does someone have to be to flick a burning cigarette but out the window? dumb fucking idiots.
Hi, Bert{Pete} here....I cant say anymore.....Me and my kids and 2 dogs got out of flowerdale at 3pm on saturday........I intended to get them to saftey and come back for my personal items....no chance of getting back up the mountain after we come down......we made it out by 30mins........I heard my street was gone.....they wouldnt let me back up to my house......I knew in my gut it was all gone by 7pm sat.......the whole mountain was on fire......Id had enough of waiting and drove around through wallan, broadford flowerdale road and managed to get into flowerdale.....the pub is there, the shop is...but apart from a handfull of houses standing......everything is gone.100s of houses...my house/sheds/cars/trucks/bikes, all gone...but not our lives....it looks like an atom bomb site...my 2 buddies and myself then proceeded down the mountain in second gear, with no one in sight..it was sureal..massive trees across the road with cars smashed into them, totally burned out probably people inside, we didnt look......birds dropped dead....powerpoles missing the whole pole/just hanging with the insulators..street after street of nothing standing....the burnt out pine plantation with all the trees frozen, bent, curved all in the same direction...like an atomic bomb had blasted them...... My little house before
Bert, glad your alive and well, I watched the news last night and man, there are no words for it. I think the whole state is in shock, probably much of the country. this is going to get allot worse before its all over I think. Hope you get your old wagon cruising again, it deserves it after surviving.
To give some insight heres a link of an Aussie sight to some photos, some gut wrenching stuff. http://tools.goldcoast.com.au//photo-gallery/photo_gallery_popup.php?category_id=3791&offset=0 but good to see some wild life survives.
I found out last night i have a mate in there somewhere,he doesn't have a phone and relys on Dial up.which is all gone. No word, but i looked at Flastoz's pics and had to stop at 47. I only hope i hear something today.
Great news that you got thru this OK Bert, If you need anything, gimme a yell I may or may not be able to help but I have some stuff you may be able to use. This bloke and his mates may be OK for now, but they are going to need even more help than the humans as their habitat and food source is completely obliterated. The white stuff on the ground isn't snow, it's ash. Watching the news footage is pretty demoralising but the underlying messages is that it'll take more than a little fire to beat us.
In our part of the world it is illegal to operate any machinery that generates a spark or light any flame outdoors on a day of total fire ban. This was the fifth consecutive such day, so there's no excuse. The oficial toll is up to 186 and they are still pulling bodies from burnt out homes and cars.
Bert Glad to hear you are ok, but sorry for your loss. Family is more important than some cars and bikes. Troy
When you live in the bush,as I did for some time, you will see people admonished for things like carrying matches, you should never buy them outback, lighters only. Throwing butts out of car windows,it's dumb to do it anywhere in OZ beyond the great divide and parking your car on grass. Modern cars with their catcons will start a blaze instantly.
My Prays and condolences go out to you all,we deal with the fear of this every October where I am in So Cal. Please dont risk your life to save property. We dont wait to be evacuated anymore after almost getting traped,we grab out toothbrushes and get out while the getting good,,,, My best to you all,,,,,,stay safe!,,,jim
i don't think the fire's were up ryan's (kustom linez) way...then again i saw the newstead fire truck on the news a few days ago....hopefully fighting a fire in another area.
hey carps that pic of the koala was in mirboo north,do you know if the town survived,my wife has family there,,bob
the ignition point for the kilmore fire - which became the "kinglake complex" aka the biggest one, was in saunders rd kilmore east, not the freeway, i saw where the fire swept onto the freeway and ran through clonbinane/wandong on my way home from glenrowan. at least it wasnt some tool flicking a ciggie from the hume, but there was a young bloke caught trying to light 3 separate fires in the week leading up to it. newstead is west of where all the damage is, kyle aka kustom linez should be fine. bertieboy, do you happen to know doug hoyle from flowerdale? the before photo of your house looks familiar to me. he lived off riverside drive.
word on the news is that healesville is on high alert again i know paul hoffman (a hamb user) and some of the hot rod hoodlums are in that area they were narrowly missed on saturday and sunday. bertie i have a family friend directly behind the flowerdale pub thats had everything wiped too, glad you and your family made it out safely.
