Figured there were a bunch of other surfers on here... that's cool. Good looking board!

I grew up on the East coast surfing on my Mom's 1963 or so 9'6 Hansen Competitor (still have the board!). Moved to SoCal 7 years ago when I got tired of the frigid New Hampshire water. Used to do a lot of mountaineering/ice climbing - not a lot of that out here. Was a sponsored snowboarder for many years, and now I mostly surf, shape surfboards, skate (neighbor just built a new ramp) go running and of course, work on the truck. Day job is as a web developer for eyespot.com...

I like to read. Anything from a good murder mystery to The Grapes of Wrath suits me. I also am an early stock car historian and try to increse my knowledge. I enjoy writing and do so for an online racing column. I buy model cars but never seem to have the time to work on them. Other than that, TV, music, pets, computers and the rest of the normal shit...

  5. I collect anything old that is appealing to me, no pattern to it. I also paint/sketch a lot. I would really like to get into pin striping, but anyone around here that may be able to show me some things is far to into themselfs to care

I have been skateboarding for 20 years and snowboarding for 19.
Into old wooden boats of all types.
Collect skateboards, snowboards, lots of memorabilia for both, and old bikes (mostly BMX but have a lot of old cruisers, road bikes, and others.)
My wife and I are slowly restoring our 170 year old house...we put a go kart track in the back yard, which is nice.
We also collect antiques, signs, and all kinds of other old junk related to VT, NH, old ski areas, tourism, etc.
Also into a lot of other non HAMB-related car stuff.

Most people who know me would say I have no hobbies, cars are it, my life. However, now that cars are my day job as well I am working on diversifying so I don't get "burned out" like every seems to worry about me doing. I like to buy junk, yes junk. I will go to auctions, garage sales, flea markets and antique stores to scavenge for things I never knew I needed. I like old car pictures, especially old racing photos. I collect old aprons and tablecloths from the 40s, 50s and 60s, not sure why, but I do.
I really like to write, afterall it is what my degree is in. I really need to work on getting published. I write articles/essays about cars, shows I go to and some racing history. If you need a writer, give me a call!
Much like a lot of other people on here I am drawn to the WWII era; the cars, the people, the places, the whole bit. I have recently began to work on interviewing and recording WWII vets. We are losing too many everyday that haven't recorded their stories.
Ok, so I do have some hobbies. This is an interesting OT thread. What a diverse group we have!

Hobbies? I collect and operate antique toy trains, mostly American Flyer and Marx tin lithographed stuff. I've got an eleven by twenty two around the walls layout in the basement. I play guitar and own six right now. [But, I'm kinda looking to add a resonator.] I collect rod magazines, books on many subjects, HO slotcars, blues music, and parts for my coupe project.

    I like to take pictures.

I'm getting back into weightlifting... to tone up... not competative. Anyone who's seen me knows that.

Um... yeah I hanging out here waiting for something to happen a hobby?

  22. Boating, fishing and surfing. Sometimes all 3 at once. Toss a couple of boards in the boat, cruise over to Core Banks or Shackleford, surf a while and fish on the way back. I've got a small collection of antique longboards including a couple of Gordon and Smiths, Hobies and Conns. Collecting Farmall tractors, antique broadcast gear, playing piano, growing unusual veggies and fruits on my sponge farm. My wife makes soaps that we market with our sponges. FWIW Oldcarmike, every now and then Lake Michigan has some surfable waves.

  23. Macrame
    Canine Phrenology
    Steeplechase
    Nude Opera
    Peloponnesian war re-enactment
    Synchronized Drinking

I've really enjoyed reading what others do as "hobbies". Mine include:

*scrapbooking, basicly my hot rod adventures

    *gardening, flowers not veggies:D

*travel, I have visited every State in the US except for Maine and Washington State. I have also seen quite a bit of Europe and ALL of Australia, twice. I do want to do an African safari before I get too old.:D

*snaping photos which has turned into more of a photo-journalist type of thing as I love to post my adventures for all to read. Kinda like an online scrapbook.:D

*baking and cooking, I have a dinner party almost every Thursday evening in the fall, winter and spring.

    *collecting pottery/ceramic type serving pieces.

*I love interior painting and decorating

*collecting car memoribilia and original car related artwork, I'm going to give Doc a run for his money so to speak.;)

At age 65 I play ice hockey in an over 21 league. When not playing, I go to games and watch them on TV. I read mystery books. Got about 5,000 of them on the shelf.

    - my 1999 Camaro Z28 (quickest daily driver I've ever owned!)
    - DJing (retro trance)
    - retro gaming
    - books by Aldous Huxley, Terence McKenna, Carlos Castaneda, etc.

  30. Mr Zenor, I need to hang out with you, 'cept for the nude opera thing. You wearing only Brunhilda horns is a scary thought indeed.

Say, do canine phrenologists go bump in the night?
