Oh yes. Back around 1970 somebody put a Corvair drivetrain into one, it made it into Hot Rod magazine.
But more recent is this BBC-powered 3-wheeled Isetta, check it out:

Anyone have old issues of Mother Earth News magazine they did a few 3 wheelers including a leaner. popular mechanics also built a couple one was electric. The plans from both magazines may be still available I have some of the articles packed away here.Mother earth was all home built projects that could be built in anyones garage. It used to be a realy cool alternate lifestyles mag on self sufficiency the one out now is pretty much reruns of the old articles but they still cary the old plans packages. Here in Ct.3wheels registers as a motorcycle.if anyone cares to contact me at my email address I'll try to locate those articles in Mother Earth and share them.these trikes used a variety of front ends from ford,VW,and fully home constructed A arm for the computer controlled tilt trike theres even a very small car built from motorcycle parts.before you build one check what qualifys as a bike in your state.also it may be a good idea to register the bike first then convert to 3 wheeler less hasles that way.All those flathead V8 2 wheeler from Speedway? register as 750 hondas because thats the neck/front end they use

On a hotrod, maybe, but this is a sportscar where handling is everything.
The original Morgan sliding-pillar suspension (an early IFS, sort-of) was patented in 1910. IFS is old-tech across the pond.

Also, a solid axle front end, on a three-wheeled vehicle, could lead to some dicey handling on a bumpy road, I should think.

I'm only p***ing on what i saw in the magazine builds. one car had an straight axle from an early ford. one had a complete VW. and the tilting trike used computerized independent A arm if I build one I'd use VW beam mabey with coil overs instead of tortion bars.I have no hands on expierence with these but have been thinking of building one for a long time and may start on one soon. Mother earth Magazine was a very good source of home builder projects because it was all about independence if anyone gets the chance to read them I think you'll be surprised While we as hotrodders might want a hyabussa motor and they used a moped doesent alter the fact that their plans will work.or at least offer some very good ideas
