I'm semiretired and want to do a old truck based business. Does anyone have any pictures of pre '65 based produce peddlers trucks? mostly wood beds with a top that roamed the streets selling to the housewives? Show pieces to ragamuffins, have any pictures?
Saw this GMC huckster deal at an auction last month. I think thats the first time I've seen one up close.
Thanks! I couldn't find anything with a web search. I'd of gone to that auction if i known that was selling. spruce that up with a 292/5 speed,do the cosmetics and make money.
No pics but they were a regular production item from Chevy and GMC in the '30s thru the mid '50s. The cutaway side panels were made from standard panel truck sides in the factory in Indianapolis. They were known as huckster bodies. Find a copy of the The Chevy truck book.
Dale, thanks for the info but I want to replace the beds on trucks I already have really attractive peddlers bodies. I have several rodded trucks, the newest a '51 3100 Chevy. A retired cabinet worker will build it for me.
