  4. And life goes on. Why worry about what you have no control over? Take charge of what is in your own stable and let the rest of the world rot.

I am truly blessed with the vehicles that I do get to work on, modify, or build. It's rather sad to see a classic that someone had an idea with (good or bad) then abandoned; but it's like they say, most people have enough problems of their own rather than worrying about another's stuff. We can't save them all... but it (usually) never hurts to ask in a polite way. :)

I'm super glad about having so many fellow hot rodders and restorers that keep these classic goodies a highlight of today's society!

I don't know, I've seen some real nice cars end up on here and only get nicer. I catch s%$t at lease once a week from an old timer at work. He thinks we should all be shot for chopping tops, channeling cars, replacing original engines, etc. Who knows, he might be right. To each their own. I guess I'm just a car guy, I like them all! Stock, traditional, rat, street rod, it don't matter if I like it, good, if not I pass it by.

To answer the question psychologically, the "A-hole" is in such a low place that s/he does what they must do to get what they want----this is why they appear to have pristine projects, be in charge, with beautiful women etc. When you're desperate, you'll do what it takes to get what you want; i know, i've been there.

i don't think the "cost" to obtain what they got was anywhere near worth it.

For instance, i don't think hitler was nessesarily extremely bright. He was just very miserable and wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted.

Those of us who have had more fortunate backgrounds tend to be less "hungry." Thus we sit around, perplexed at why the "a-holes" have the best rides.

P.S. As another example of who/what i'm talking about, i refer you to the "devil at your heels" thread.

Probably a combination of money and luck, or at least that's been my experience. Unfortunately I have little of either. There are projects I come across I'd love to pick up, but can't afford. The truck I have right now I can't do half of what I'd like to do - lower, IFS, engine upgrades, etc. Mostly I do what I can just to keep it running.

However, I will add one thought to this thread - as long as they aren't going to the salvage yards, I'm okay with it. Even in the hands of idiots, the metal is still out there and goes on to be played with by someone else another day. I can't afford to buy it, so at least someone can and it's still around. Once it's crushed, it's gone.
