my neighbor always asks for help whenever he "trys" to work on his car. last time it was that he could loosen a radiator hose clamp. sad sad sad... trust me, thats my garage (actuley my parents, but you know!) the other car in there is my dads 1938 chevy with a 348 engine.
But.....but..........that tire/Sundance thing? The pistons arent air cleaners and theres even one in your toolbox!Didnt enen know you were still on here. You posted some 64 posts unnoticed as ****srock!Amazing!
I know pistons arent air cleaners, but i think every one would have understood what I ment after showing the hot rod companys link. the piston in my tool box is outta the flatty. I cleaed it and polished it up one day to use as a paper weight. I dont know why, but every time I look at that picture of my tool box i really like how it turned out. maybe Im just messed up. yes, the whole sundance thing was stupid to start with. ahhh... anyways! Jordan
I'll give you a zip lock with some lotion inside so you can stuff it between the couch cushions just for the sundance story
He has a start on a blown flathead project, better start than I have on a hot rod, that would be cool when its done...thats going to take some pretty serious engineering to get it all too work but good luck with it!
I like a challange. so far I have only put about a total of $500 into it, but this summer with some longer shifts at work, I am hoping to get the body, transmission and have her rolling by the end of the summer. keep your eyes out for updates. the three hardest things I think to do is going to be making a open drive setup for the banjo, fabricating the blower drive, and making a custom intake manifold. Thanks! Jordan
how are you going to make a manifold? do you have access casting tools? how are you going to know how to make everything precise for everything to flow freely?
I have access to a water jet and am going to cut a 1/2" plate that matches the gasket, then box it in for the blower. I have talked to several people about going this route, and they all have said it should work fine with a blower setup. I may change my mind though and just make an adapter to go onto a 4 barrel flatty manifold, because the 3-71 blower isnt that big. Jordan
Your project is more interesting. We all have birthdays, but we all dont have a blown flatty project.
true. hopefully my parts from speedway come tomorrow! nothing exciting, just some chrome steering arms and some motor mounts. Jordan
Congratulations! You're another year closer to death!! I just realized that I have a pair of shoes older than you......
Happy Birthday kid.....looks like your headed in the right direction make sure you have your blower drive setup before you make your final blower plates for mounting on the manifold to line all your pulleys up. The four barrell adapter will work but doesn't look as good, it's a lot of work to make a blower intake from other regular manifold but the fenton 2 carb is a good one to start from, you can mill the top off and make your adaptor plate to fit, are you setup for aluminum welding? Making that adaptor out of wood may help at first if you need to make changes along the way, a good router and grinder does the trick, whatever the sundance thing is I think I'm glad I missed that one but it sounds like it must have been pretty lame. Good luck.
You figger out how to get it to Wisconsin, and I'll give you a 62 Studebaker Lark fourdoor sedan, complete, not running,no ***le...???.......
There is a thread around here somewhere showing how a manifold for a blown flathead was built; do a search, maybe check the Tech Archive. While you are at it, read EVERYTHING in the Tech Archive, at least once. Great start on your project.
