Okay, don't know if anyone else is watching the oscars (my boyfried duty, I suppose it could be worse), let alone the commercials, but after the best actress in a lead role award the commercials ran, in them was a cadillac comercial that was accompanied by one of my favorite Pogues songs, sunny side of the street. now the part that surprised me was they played the lyrics from the first chourus: "I saw that train and I got on it with a heart full of hate and a lust for vomit now I'm walking on the sunny side of the street" Granted, Shane MacGowan is far less than sober, and only slightly more understandable than Bob Dylan, but you'd think the marketing department at Cadillac would have put the axe to using those lyrics?
Have you seen the cruise commercial that plays Iggy Pop's "lust for life?" You think the marketing department listened to the lyrics? Got a GTO. We're deliveing drugs. We're delivering drugs. Ha ha ha.
Did they acctually play those lyrics in the commercial though? I've seen that one a dozen times, and I have all the old stooges and iggy records,,, I woulda thought that would have stuck out like a sore thumb? if they played those lyrics that's way worse than the lyrics I quoted that they played on the cadillac commercial!?!
