lol, you obviously haven't bought a real computer in a while, go back and compare two systems feature for feature, the Mac is not more than a PC if you buy name brand. Especially the laptops. I hate the hating on price, its FUD pure and simple... But then again this has gotten way off of the original question.... XP over Vista everyday of the week.....
i just spent 2k on my hp laptop with vista and I love it. I upgraded every option I could. for something similar in a mac it would have been over 3000. I haven't had any problems with vista so far and I push it pretty hard. It never crashes, runs Photoshop, Illustrator, Itunes and my 3d modeling software all at the same time without a hitch... and it's nice to look at!
