Been involved in the graphic design industry in one form or another for the past 13 years. Was teaching graphic design for the past couple years, but the college I teach at is closing the department, so I've gone part time there (for 2 more weeks, yay!!!) and I'm working part time at a service bureau as a pixel jockey. In other words... I spend about 90% of my time in Photoshop. Love it!

Work schedule's a little hectic right now though.

Computer guy from 1963 through 2005. Started when a 4 K computer took up a full room and lasted until a small block Chevy hit 427 cubic inches. What a strane trip it's been.

    Rodney? Congrats!

I work in aerospace for Boeing at NASA in Houston, Rocket science. My friends call me the interglactic librarian. I keep track of all the parts on the International Space Station, who built them, what changes have occured to them over their life, and all sorts of info about every part. Best part of my job is that I have to visit all the sites where all these parts are made.

Motorcycle mechanic turned mechanical engineer turned paper pusher.

Paper pusher pay is great but I'm bored out of my mind and getting fat from sitting all day.

  12. Well, I will join in..

I am a career counselor for a small private school in Philadelphia. I spendmost of my day reviewing resumes, and offerring interview and job search advice. Occasionally I will get to do a corporate visit or have lunch with an employer.

The only real benefit is that 70 % of the school is girls ages 18-22..

The only real drawback is that 70% of the school is girls ages 18-22.

Life is about balance I guess..

Most of my career was in Information Technology (IT) as a programmer, analyst, manager, database administrator, director, etc. A few years ago, after moving to the next county and buying a new house, my company merged with its biggest competitor and closed up shop, leaving me in the cold when the economy sank. Not many companies are eager to hire computer guys with too much experience.

I took a job in a sign shop, did some graphics and customer service work. That lasted a year and a half, when I was laid off again. Had double-hernia from the sign-work, so I got that fixed and took a sit-down job as a telephone pollster (No-Not telephone sales!). Still doing that but still looking for real work...

All through this, I have been chairman of my county Libertarian Party. I hope to run for State representative next year. That's what I REALLY want to do.
But the job only comes up every other year and there is just one opening!

I have really enjoyed reading what so many of the HAMB family does. Now to mine. I worked on Air planes the C 130 A,E,H and one AC 130 A.and some other things for 4 years while in the air force {ours} . after unemployement ran out.39 weeks. I then for a 3 years used the GI Bill to go to school and during that time plus the next 4 years I raced on the local circle tracks. At 29 yrs old I then got a regular job with benifits. I retired from chrysler corp with 21 years.I had just had a birthday and at that time was 51 years of age. the whole time I was employed by chrysler I still was involved in racing. Now 8 + yrs later I pick up scrap metal and junk at all my friends shops 14 of them in all. They feel sorry for me. When the rare job comes up I clean out garages barns and yards for folks some times just for the contents. I sell a few POS cars. On very rare times I help on an a few repos and collections for 2 friends car lots. I still drive a round track race car when I feel like it..also I am a track tech/ inspection for the local asphalt track if and when it reopens..Every 60 or so days I give blood. When I have the extra time to sit most of the day I give platlets. I don't see how I had time to do any thing when I had a regular job.Thank You to every one for sharing part of their life. Good Luck and the best to all.

I design retail displays, and I have done a bit of product, graphic, and package design. If you shop at Wal-Mart or Target, you probably walked by a display or picked up a product from one that I designed.

I just started my own design firm 6 months ago, and with help from a fellow HAMBER on the side, I have been able to do pretty well so far. Best part is I'm home to see the kids, get to have lunch with the wife, I can go out in the garage (when deadlines allow) and I am teaching a cartooning class for kids once a week. Couldn't do any of that workin for the MAN!

Photographer, have been a freelancer for the past ten years. I just love it, as it allows me to meet people, learn things and see places I wouldn't have if I hadn't been doing this.

Work for an insurance company. Funny how a right brained artist could work in such a left brained environment.

We had a couple F4's with just cameras at NAS Pt Mugu (Pacific Missile Range). I hated wiring up those camera mods.. a PITA. I'm really glad that my ol' daddy paid for my music lessons. Music has been my part time job since I was 16. Helped pay the bills when I was getting those low Navy slave wages. Helps buy car parts now. :D
