I support systems and hardware for a direct mail company.

In other words, I manufacture all that wonderful junk mail you enjoy getting. :) Actually, we make a lot of credit card statements and promotional offers.

I used to paint cars and motorcycles for a living till the doc told me to cut back on it. I am now an art consultant and sell highend artwork to people with more money then sense at a local art gallery.

I actually like it more then painting, no stress, pretty pictures and pretty cool clients.

Waste Water Treatment Plant operator... Yes, I take sh!t from people all
day (and night). And PLEASE,ya'll need to chew your corn better! I should
specify that its an award winning WWTP. Yep, I got up on stage and recieved
a plaque from the guvment (DEP) so its official. My sh!t don't stink!

Actually though,I own and operate a RV park in FL and mobile home parks
in NC and OH. Started building MH parks for my father in Ohio then we moved
to Florida in the 70's and built RV parks. Too much red tape for the little
builder now so just running the place instead of building more. Along the
    way I've worked in gas stations,speed shops,body shops,race teams,fab
    shops,machine shops,tool&die shops,foundries,extruders and went to school
and got my A&P ticket and worked on aircraft for a couple years. But after
my wife and kids I love my hot rods, although it seems I've developed a
    long roof fetish...

  7. I see Quite a few A&P techs on here. Well I'm the other white meat. I'm a GSE machanic. I work for a major airline repairing ground support equipment, as in tug's, portable air conditioners, belt loaders, bag carts etc....The pay kinda sucks, but this job is the only reason I'm going to the CHRR this year. Got to love flying free!

  10. Wow. What a great post!

I played in bands for most of my life, so I bounced around a lot.

Past jobs in loose chronological order:

DJ at Deja Vu (strip joint)
    Dishwasher
    Bus Boy
    Party Store Clerk
    Finish Carpenter
    House Painter
    Housing Demolition Crew
    Pizza Driver
Taxi Driver (fired for reckless driving)
    Phone Solicitor (SORRY!)
    Rental Yard Mechanic
Plasma Donor (lived on the street for a little while) :(
    Handyman on Goat Farm
    Warehouse Grunt/Temp
    Guitar Teacher
    Cook
    Waiter
    Landscaper
    Web Designer
    College Teacher - Digital Art
    Sales Rep
probably some more stuff I forgot!

Now I play in the Twistin Tarantulas 2 or 3 nights a week and freelance art at night. That would be enough for me, except I gotta have benefits. So, during the long boring day I surf the HAMB, ER, I mean I AM, am the Art Director/Designer/paycheck collector) for a Dearborn company that develops multichannel sales solutions (whatever that means). Mostly corporate web sites. Being in Dearborn, we supplpy large family of brands worldwide that rhymes with Lord, Minkoln, Furkury, Faguar, and Rand Lover. If you've been looking for a new car, or gotten an email about a new car in the last couple of years, you've probably looked at something I've done. The toughest part of this job is staying awake.
I'm going to go freelance as soon as possible.
    Or on a shooting rampage.

    See ya!

Ok I was content to just read these but when I saw someone working for the same company as me I guess I had to post.

I too work for Philips Medical. We design and manufacture medical equipment - specifically diagnostic imaging. I work in the Nuclear Divison as a mechanical engineer and while that may sound impressive it's really not- the Nuclear group has always been the "Redheaded step child" of the medical divisions AND!! the Mechanical Group has always been the lowest common denominator within the Nuc Group - so basically I am a sub PEON working in the least respected division of a VERY LARGE Company. Can you say "lost in the corporate machine" and completely unappreciated, but at least they make up for it with marginal pay:confused: .

To give you an example of what I deal with on a day to day basis I will quote my all time favorite memo, "We will embrace common sense practices IMMEDIATELY" The funny part was that I was the ONLY person who found THAT hysterical. I guess I AM the person who "just doesn't get it"

Been doing this stuff (for a couple companies) for 17 years now. I guess it's time I decide what I want to be when I grow up.........

I sold car parts in high school. Started Jason`s upholstery in 1991. My mom did upholstery for years. Been covering sofas ever since. I dont do much car stuff(just mine and freinds). Been thinking of expanding. Its just me in the shop unless I can get my lazy Bro in here. Doesnt take much to keep one guy working.

I am a boat outfitter. I work for a company that build aluminium boats for industrial type uses, as opposed to pleasure boats. We do a lot of goverment boats. All of our boats are custom, and we only build anywhere from one to three of the same boat. I am currently working on a 79' catermaran for the U.S. Navy and we also have a 94' hovercraft we are building.

Hope the economy doesnt kill us cause its not looking good. Already lost shit to china and hope no more goes there. Job change? naw too old to change . The new deal seems to be younger people and younger higher ups. I do see a trend where s lot of the new kids are just plain lazy though and they still want to make 50k a year? Oh ya if I wasnt too cheap to buy a lottery ticket and somehow won id change jobe then in a heart beat. Any guesses? build hot rods and drink beer.....................If you invest wisely it would be a win win situation.
