    Well spoken.Li'l Billy,
I guess the perception that I have,(and have heard of first hand),is that the teacher really does not have a lot of control in disciplinary actions on the matter of of class disruptions.

They can send them to the office, but alas, the Asst.Principal and Principal have no balls!

They have to sign them over to the board of education when they take the position.

The other kids see it and take note, and it depends on the child as to how they process and utilize, and base their own actions,on the obvious lack of authority and accountability that is the norm in todays educational environment.

    Make sense?

    Rant over,I'm done.

  2. High school can be a tough transition, too. So many schools are so centered around the social clique bullshit, and even if a kid doesn't want to be "popular" chances are he wants to at least be trying to get laid, which means doing whatever damn fool things are important to the chick he has his eye on. Plus you get smarter, you start to realize that adults don't know everything, and some of them are damn fools barely even worthy of respect. I know when I started realizing that stuff, I was kind of shell-shocked for a while. And by the time I was a junior year, I got completely burned out of all the bullshit.. I would sleep in once in a while the last quarter, and the school was pissed off at me - not because they cared about my education, but because the state aid was based on the morning attendance. Bad move to tell me that, once I figured out what they cared about, I skipped more. And after I graduated, I dropped off a Christmas wrapped box of horse manure - under some foam peanuts, and inside a plastic bag, like QVC sent it or something - around the 21st of December at the vice-principal's house. She was a real bitch.

On the bright side, even if he blows off a whole year it won't hurt too much in the long run. Unless you're planning on ivy-league schools or something.

  4. You're mistaken. It will hurt them . By not addressing the issue you are telling them you dont care.

We all will expierience the joys of adolescense many times in life . Hopefully those follically challenged will quickly figure out the right answers before they have to reach into their pants to pull out the rest of their hair.

I'm not a parent, but this kind of behavior is pretty average ... high school does funny things to kids. My advice, give him responsibilities - don't baby him. Make him get a job or at least work for stuff he wants. An after school job flipping burgers or doing some other menial bullshit will not only put money in his pocket but make him realize there's a good reason for graduating high school and seeiking continuing education besides making his father proud. No one likes working a shit job. No one. I'm speaking from my own personal experience here.

Shit Root mine is 20 going on 21 and yes he is retarded. Almost to a debilitating point. It happens all the time. I am starting to see some shades of brilliance and then poof right back to stupid. Fingers crossed on the switch flipping over to smart soon.

I am getting what I deserve after my fine christian toe the line style I showed my mom. Paybacks man, paybacks. No truer words spoken.

I was told by a wise individual that it does cure out over time. How much? How fast? I dunno something to do with size of brain and the cavity it has to expand to. That individual was my grandfather and he was saying it about me at the time to my mom and as much as it pains me I have to say the old bastard was right.

Just be there, talk with him, not to him. And always reinforce this...If he ever needs help, a ride or just needs to talk you will be there. And make sure you tell him you will listen without prejudice and he can tell you ANYTHING. And in turn you will tell him the TRUTH. And listen. just listen. Sometimes that is the hardest part is listening. Don't be his friend but make sure you are not his enemy.

Good luck and let me know where your new almost adult kid lives so I can drop him off!

Now if you would like matching bookends I can drop mine off on Wednesday as I have to come to OKC so let me know! LOL.
