I bought an '84 E150 today for s****. It has a 9" axle with 3.73 open gears. Is the axle worth saving to upgrade something, such as an F100?

I would have to yes. Even if you don't use it you can sell it or trade it for something you can use.

I would put it aside..Probably too wide for F100 and if memory serves me the chuck is offset a bunch but it should have the big bearing ends and healthy drum brakes..Very suitable for narrowing; put a posi in with those gears and nice package..

I remember that they're desirable for some reason... my memory just isn't as good as it used to be. It might be an off roader thing, I wanna say Jeeps maybe, anyways, I'd hang onto it, good trading stock and it's worth more that way than it is in s****.

Thanks for the prompt responses. I was concerned about the width, but didnt consider that it could be narrowed. And true on the F100 and big brakes. I'm sure someone could use it.

It's comin' out in the morning!
