O/T:Going to Hawaii, what to see? what to do?

I got to stop in and visit Hawaii several times back in the early 80s and it was a great place to visit.

The first time I stopped in was on the way to Isolated duty station Midway Island. Of course being the Navy way they screwed up my orders so I was only on Midway for a couple days (heard they had great scuba diving and fishing there?). I then stopped in Hawaii four more times when the ship I was on pulled into port. I was very poor and didn't have much time to get things done while doing 12 on 12 off shifts but I did what I could. The wife would like to go there some day but Australia is higher on my list of places to go!

 

Ask a local (or 2 or 3) to steer you to Marianna's Yacht Club. Buy a steak, give the blind piano player 10 bucks and ask him to play some blues. It was there in 06 when I was there. There is a Big Boy in Honolulu too and they do have a cruise night. Not sure which night. Aloha!

Try and find the Drag Strips.....Yes they are there

 

yeah i went and checked out the strip on maui it was cool looked real old school, but they are only open 2x a month or something, the weekend afte ri was there they had an old time drags kind of deal i saw the flyers in all the stores and stuff. one of the coolest things was the rainforest at ioa needle i think they get something like 400" of rain a year. we went checked it out a bit and of coarse got poured on out of no where when we were as far away from the car as possible.
