Been up for seems like days...really it has been. Wife has been having a trouble free pregnancy with our second (Girl this time)...30 weeks, way too soon for delivery. Silver lining, Its 6 weeks after 24 weeks, in pregnancy terms 24 weeks is pretty much the no go for a baby in development terms. Long and short of it, wife woke up at 0100 leaking...unless your a NAVY helicopter, leaking aint good. By the time I got her to the hospital she leaked alot, turns out the amniotic sac ruptured leaving baby high and dry...Baring any infections, the docs are gonna try to keep baby in the oven as long as they can to develop the lungs further using steriods and mom drugs to "Quiet the uterus" whatever the hell that means... Mom and baby are OK right now...however we could use the power of the HAMB.
All the best for wife and baby, (and father of course) all the way from the other side of the planet! Don't worry dad, your little family is in the best hands possible. Modern medicine can do wonderful things, HAMB power can certainly help too! Cheers, Glen.
Thank you.... Seems that the docs said that this only happens to 1% of the women.... Looks like my little girl is a 1% er... Gotta look at the bright side...already starting the rebelious streak.....we're in for it. Back at it.
Sending up prayers....sounds like you've got a big blessing coming! Hoping the best for all involved!
Both my sister-in-law and brother-in-law work at a childrens hospital, and she's in the neo-natal ward quite often. It is truly amazing what they can do today. I'm sure all will be fine and sending our prayers !!!!
Despite all the bad press lately, your family is in the best medical hands on the planet. Some positive spin: your little girl may not be rebellious...she's just anxious to come out and see daddy!
Been there...My wife was trouble free and went into labor at 24 weeks, they got it stopped. After quite a few weeks in the hospital, we got to go home, only to have it happen again and again. Every day you make it is a good thing. 30 weeks, is pretty good, like you said. Stay positive and everything will be fine soon.
Thoughts & prayers to all. 30 weeks is 10 shy of the ideal # but still doable if I remember right. Prayers to guide the doctors' hands.
Some good friends of mine just went through the same thing, and on Friday 5/28/2010, they delivered a beautiful little boy. He's small but mighty, and already doing well. So hang in there, thoughts and prayers sent your way.
Prayer out to you and your family Salty. My wife is 5.5 weeks outside of her due date right now. I would be panic stricken if she when into labor tonight.
Just got home from one of the longest days of my life...suddenly, nothing else mattered, finishing the home chores to sell the house, dont care. Mowing the grass, couldnt care less. Workin on the 49....shit can wait. Welp, the best laid plans of mice and men, the short term goal was 24 hours to get two treatments of stereroids, The mom drugs didnt work and she went into active labor. They were able to get two treatments on board but in a 12 hour period. The docs assembled the NCIU staff and sped up the delevery process and Baby Girl was born at 1810 eastern at 16 inches and 3lbs 5oz. She popped out, sucked in her first breath as she looked around and started screamin....at that point I knew she was going to be ok.... She is (and will be) in NCIU for awhile till she learns that she has to breath 100% of the time. They have her hooked up to a C-PAC system (they didn't have to ventalate her which is huge positive) which assists her with breathing and lung development. She's a cutie....takes after her mom... Keep the power of the HAMB rollin, we aint outta the woods but baby girl is doin good, she's a fighter and a fiesty one...looks like she might have red hair...(She grumbles and fusses and swats when the nurses wake her up....I do too though) I'm so proud of that little creature and her mother, It's about too much to take in. Thanks to all, means alot. Pics of the little one when time allows if folks are down.
Thoughts are with you and your family. Our fifth is due in 6 weeks....I can't imagine what you are going through. Hang in there!
