Was mostly in to hillclimbing, on a hopped-up CR500.

Now I'm on a KTM525 4-stroke, they're supposed to be so bad, but it's tame compared to my old CR

I grew up with minibikes and later on dirtbikes
Started out on a Honda Z50
upgraded to a 90cc Harley Davidson minibike
    Suzuki 100cc Dirt Bike
    Yamaha YZ465

I stopped riding dirtbikes after I had a family but now my son is into riding his YZ85. I bought a Husaberg FC600 4stroke to ride with him.

I've been considering parting with the Husaberg because I can't hardly handle the excessive exercise of going around a motocross coarse anymore or the boy is almost faster than me. You take your pick:D

Oh man!! I started riding a B&S-motored mini bike in '69, moved up to a Honda QA 50 in '70 and started racing in '72 on an SL70. Was never all that fast, but moved up to an SL125 later, then a progression of YZ Yamahas before getting hurt in '97 . Swore off dirt bikes and MX forever. Seems as though forever lasts about 7 years. In '04 I got a CRF450R and once again fell in love at the ripe old age of 43. I often fantasized about finding a time machine and taking the CRF450 back to about '74 and racing the open class. I figured I would be World Champion with that thing, but in reality I still suck no matter the time period and would likely get beat by some kid on a 501 Maico in the local novice class...

I rode a CR 500 for a local shop. The OPEN class actually meant something back in the early '90's. A CR500 or a KX500 meant you were the BadAss! I had a KX 500 with Honda plastic on it.... Honda said "Do whatever it takes to win" The KX was WAY faster. You could not tell the difference with a Red frame and shaved covers. My KX (CR) even had a Factory Works Honda pipe on it. The Honda "Works" pipe made 2hp. more than the Kaw pipe.

I raced in the early nineties, didnt grow up riding though. I couldnt have a bike till I could buy one myself and out of the house. I raced a 89 Honda 125 ( almost new ) for a few years then made the mistake of buying an RM 250. Took a while to get the hang of that one. I was way better on the little bikes, back then. I still have my 250 and get out to ride with my boys when we can. Gotta moto!
