How would you ship a bicycle/crating wise?

I have about 20 vintage bikes hanging from the rafters and was gonna try and pimp after the holidays on ebay. The only drawback I have is the shipping issue.

I've done it a BUNCH of times. Go on down to the local bike shop, toy store, or retail chain that sells bicycles and grab as many boxes as you need. They are happy to give them to you in every case I've seen!

Then, you partially dismantle the bike and pack the parts in the box along with the bike itself. I used newspaper, styrofoam and bubblewrap to protect the pieces.

Use appropriate sized boxes. 20" up to 26" bikes being the most common.

Shipping rates will be from roughly $14 to $40, depending on weight, destination, etc.

I shipped all of mine through UPS, but they will fuck you around on the rates!

(They charged me $14 to ship a Stingray, then THREE DAYS LATER they tried to charge me $32 to ship an IDENTICAL Stingray to the same location! The lady said that they must have undercharged me for the first one! I think they just make up their rates as they go...I've seen NO consistency from them!)

Sorry no Schwinn's other than a few 70's bikes. No Stingrays at all. Most of my stuff is Monark, Flying O, Roadmaster, Chicago Bicycle Co. A lot of skiptooth stuff. All are in rusty untampered stage.

I also have a Monark Siler King, all aluminum bike....but it is not for sale. It's the main reason I bought all this crap...a truckload deal, if you will. [IMG]

I have 2 really cool girls bikes for your ladies.
I have the "ATOMIC ROCKET" and another similar Monark. Some have the paperboy downstays on em.

If anyone is interested PM me. Sorry for the spam.

If I didn't have so many bikes already... [IMG] I just was given a couple more frames, and am supposed to go pic up a free mountain bike. Go now to get the boxes, stores sell a lot of bikes this time of year and will have a good selection.
