From our favorite web site: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120026471951 Got this from justinm, but figgered people here would enjoy. These are in San Rafael, CA. I've been to this store. Didn't know the guy had this kind of coin by the looks of his shop. Mike
"Then, after they were custom made, they were sent by Semie to the shop of the renowned pinstripe artist Von Dutch." Those are pretty neat. Thanks. Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
I saw these in a guitar book awhile ago - pretty much the ultimate combo ~Mosrite and Von Dutch! Bit weird looking tho' Adam F
Interesting that he avoids stating Von Dutch actually striped them, just that they were sent to his shop? Unless I missed it..
Im gonna have to take the 3 min drive down there and check them out. Some of the most badass guitars I have ever seen.
Unreal! I doubt they were actually striped by Von Dutch, otherwise the photos would show his signature. Still, an amazing trio of gits. I went to a guitar show in Chicago yesterday and plain jane stock '63 Mosrites were asking $4k-$6k each so I gotta believe this custom set will eventually get over $60k. The mortifying thing about that guitar show was the ebony '59 Gibson Les Paul Custom 3-pickup, the same exact guitar I had in high school. $117,000. Made me want to carve a ditch in my wrists.
My God! If I had the cash..... There's a guitar shop about a half hour from my house that has some rare stuff in it, some rare special models, one-offs, some anniversary models...some of those guitars grab some serious coin....but those 3 are gorgeous. The coolest guitars I've ever seen.
That's a good point. I'm no Dutch expert, but he didn't seem the type to have employees. Does anyone know that he did? Dave http://www.roadsters.com/
Holy Shite! I didn't think they were worth anything! I guess that's what I get for living under a rock.... I have half a dozen in various condition.... I used to pick em up at garage sales for 50-100 bucks a piece..... I know at least one is in mint condition, they have been in the back of my closet for the past five years...... I used to think they were cool because Johnny Ramone and Greg Ginn played them, but then I learned how to play (no disrespect Johnny or Greg) ...... I am going to do some research, and maybe with a little luck, I can finace those carburators and wheels/tires for the RPU sooner than I thought! Thanks for the heads up!!!!! btw, those auction guitars are, well, different..... freaking hippies......
i betcha the sustain on those is outta this world with the headstock tied to the body...freakin sweet man, thanks for sharing!
