I , as a general rule do not name them.........but my wife will..... The old 40 was named LUKE.........in honor of one of the best known moonshiners in our area. Lucas D. had a black 40 standard coupe..so it was sorta natural name for our 40. It was a former ' moonshine tanker car ' The roadster has always just been ' the roadster ' When we got the 3W....my wife started calling the 3W ' Little Sister '........as a family member to ' the roadster ' Sorta of non functional I guess but it works for us....... .
My present stable includes...BuFord ('49 F-1 w/ Nailhead), Elvis ('55 F-100), Mojo ('56 F-100 chopped with Hemi), Seabiscuit ('39 Ford)...
The Rolling Bones guys call their coupes Wicked Sisters and call my 3w clone Wicked Step-Sister. Larry.
Some of my cars have names, but only if they make them known to me, I don't give them names. I had a sand racer T bucket, it was "DirTy Deeds". I had a 73 Ford F250 4x4 that was built from the junkyard, no two panels were the same color, that was " the worlds ugliest Ford". My buddy called it the "jungle truck" because the roof was tiger striped red and black. My pro street Marlin is " Pro Carp". My white Ford E350 dually extended van is "Moby Dick", for obvious reasons.
Naming your cars? Why not buy a monster truck with the required bug screen and your favorite redneck saying. "Git er done" comes to mind.
Yes!, i'm happy everytime i see someone call a buick powered ford a buford... there are so many people who just call buicks bufords and that is totally wrong and sucks.. history lesson for everyone else BUFORD= BUICK POWERED FORD (IT DOES NOT APPLY TO CALL A BUICK WITH AN BUICK ENGINE A BUFORD, THATS JUST A BUICK!)
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Buicks were referred to as Bufords, Buferds, Buferts, and many other variations of the spelling and pronounciation, where I grew up, in the 50's. I knew a lot of guys that were into Buicks (I put a buick motor in my first car - a '34 Plymouth), and it was standard fare for them to use the term in talking about their buicks. I don't think the spelling makes much difference - it was the spoken word, and there are many different dialects in the U.S. Why do you think so many people use the term if it is wrong? I think this was hashed over last year. Mutt
This is actually pretty good.So I found my car in Utah. It was owned by a very nice lady named Laura. I spoke with her on 2 occasions and traded a few emails with her also. I bought the car and paid for it and I asked her to send me the title. She told me she would and I waited for it. After a week the car showed up on the transport but I never got the title. I sent her an email and didnt hear back. I sent her another email and she finally wrote back apologizing for not sending it to me and saying that there was not excuse, but that there was a lot going on in her life and she would send it to me. I told her it was fine and I would let her know when I received it. I had already had the vehicle verified and I was in the process of getting it registered and I found out I didnt actually need the title at all. Weeks past and I never received the title. I got the vehicle registered and I started getting her back into shape. About four months later I received a certified letter from a Cars-Mart used car place in Utah with the title in it. Here is how it reads " Mr.Teague, This was found in my sisters possessions after the accident. I'm hoping I am sending it to the right person. We did'nt know what it was for several weeks after the funeral. I hope this hasn't caused any problems" It is signed by someone but I cant read the name. Apparantly she died just after I bought the car from her. I tried to contact people where the letter came from and ask someone about it to try to find out what happened. No one there could identify the signature and nobody had any idea of what happened to her. I will never know what happened to the very nice lady that I got my car from. Her name was Laura Leigh and now her 1960 Oldsmobile Super 88 carries her name. I hope I did it in a style you like Laura......
My 62 unibody I call the Relic cause it is made form a bunch of stuff that was going to be scrapped if I didn't save the pieces. My 65 Caddy Hearse I call Nessie because it is a 22 foot long Monster. My 68 Cougar I call the Cougarsaurus a name I gave a earlier Cougar that I had so it transitioned to a new ride. My 93 Dodge Cummins 4 wheeldrive was named The Tit Streacher If you have ridden in one of these old straight axle dodge trucks over a rough road you will understand. Dawg
I named my car Lady Luck as many of you probably allready know! Why? My favorite band The Go Getters, from Sweden made a tune in the mid 90's called that!! Probably all my cars will be named after Go Getters songs. Except my daily driver "Katie" She's a Caprice from '79. And when she get a new body from a 40' or 50's car she will advance to a Go Getters name also Klaus
My '27 Olds sat in the same junkyard from '29 to '03 when I bought what was left of it(Romo's). Right after I bought it the city of Fresno closed them down. In kind of a salute to them and an F-you to the city I'm gonna call it Romo's Revenge. I think I'll find out where all the city councilmen live and drive by their houses at 2am.
I refer to my 53 as "The Buick" i come from a Ford family and when I say "The Buick" everyone knows what I'm talking about. Its had other nicknames, but they all lasted about and hour before I went back to "The Buick"
