    I was on Carl Vinson (CVN 70, the Gold Eagle) from 1989-92. PACEX 89, WESTPAC 90 (shellback), then Bremerton shipyard for my last 2 years of active service. I'm retiring from the reserves next month after 24 years.

    Balls! I said it like I was right!!! Congrats on the retirement, I got 8 more to go..... (too many damn ships to count, rookie mistake right??!)

    '75-'79 USS Saratoga, flight deck, fuels specialist. basically i gassed up the aircraft. real fun when they're running...........

    va-87 1980 to 1983 I.O. cruise and a med cruise on board the USS Independence, 1985 to 1988 A.I.M.D NAS LEMOORE, 1988-1991 USS CARL VINSON, 1991-1992 VX-5 CHINA LAKE, CA. and yes I too remember the "shower shitter" and it wasn't me.

    I did that IO run in 83 onboard the USS Horne CG30. We did 122 day straight in the IO never even hit Deigo Garcia
     
  9. Joined the Coast Guard.

    I leave in 3 weeks as of today. Sept 21st.

    Today is my last day in the Navy Reserve. After 24 years, 6 active and two mobilizations I'm transferring to the the Retired Reserve.

    Aug 1961 Boot Camp San Diego, then USS Marshall DD-676, USS Tracer AGR-15, finally USS Atlanta IX-304. Honorable Discharge Aug 1965.
