I nearly lost everything in 2007 - firefighters stopped a 45ft high wall of flame 20ft from my barn.

Your life is the most valuable thing you have - it is not replaceable. Prayers and thoughts are with you. Stay safe and get out when told to evacuate. Keep us posted when you can.

  6. Damn guys Im from OKC. Now in Ar, As a volFirefighter only thing I say ya might do is BUILD YOU ONE HELL OF A FIRE LINE AROUD EVERY THING. 20 to 50 feet of nothing but Dirt

If you water down anything try and put some soap with the watter! it helps up to 30%

I just got done fighting a bad forest fire yesterday.

We have had the fires in SoCal very close and the most important thing is you life and the lives of your loved ones. When they say evacuate, do it. If you are close to the fires start packing the items you want to take with you in your vehicles now so you can go at a moments notice. Sometimes that all you get. Stay Safe

Pretty bad down here in Southern Oklahoma also. Two of the guys at my work place lost there homes last night, One is not sure about his cars, they are still not allowed in the area. Everyone take care I would take a rainout at the drag strip just so these fires could be prevented.

    See you at the Drags.....Rob

Hot Rod Linkin, if you need anything, let us know. I heard this morning on the way in that folks were cutting their grass short and it didn't matter. The stockade fences would catch and the embers blow up into the shingles and then the house is gone in minutes.

I've never been through such a thing and my prayers are with those that have.

News last night said that in Montague county (TX) there were 25,000 acres burned and in one small town there was only one single building left.
Also burend several oil storage tanks.

Mostly Volunteer Fire Depts. in these areas as they are mostly smaller towns. Not bagging on Volunteer FD's as I was a Volunteer Fireman for about 10 years, but most times these departments are not equipped nor do they have enough members to handle anything near this magnitude.

I am about a 100 miles SE of the fires in Plano and you could see and smell the smoke all afternoon and evening.

My prayers go out to out to all those folks who are devistated by this disaster.

    Rigg Fink,

Garland is fine. It is about 75 miles from fire lines.

I could see and smell the smoke in my shop in downtown Dallas, so it had to have been one hell of a fire going on out west.

Hope everybody made it through safely.
