Here is what I picked up this weekend. Since there is no room yet for a complete car I will rebuild my poncho mill and do some hot rodding mini style. Here is my new transaxel for the DEATH ROD MINI TRIKE its a 4 speed plus neutral that will make up the back end. I have a 8HP Briggs And Stratton that will be turning the wheels but I need to reduce the pully size on the engine for more speed! I can't make the HAMB drags this year but all you guys with pit bikes its on for 2005! I should even have my english wheel built and some fat fenders rolled out by then!
That looks like a highly prized Peerless 600 series transmission. Run a 5" diameter pulley on it and a 7" on the motor and you will be cruising the pits 20mph plus. That is a good pulley combination just be careful on the clutch or run wheelie bars 'cause you will end up on you back!!! The fastest mower in our hood is my stepson's and his is a 18hp craftsman that will do 42mph
the red x if you get is is from my server not wanting to cooperate all the time. I bought 500K of space with a 5 gig transferfor my website but it runs slow at times. I have a friend using the same provider and his runs fine. We must be on different servers. If you get it sorry! dixie- I plan on the wheelie bars on the back cause if I am going to fall off its going to be over the handlebars!
[ QUOTE ] but I need to reduce the pully size on the engine for more speed! [/ QUOTE ] If you reduce the pulley on the engine you'll end up with less speed and more torque. If you want more speed, reduce the driven pulley on the transaxle or enlarge the pulley on the engine. ' looking forward to seeing the progress.
That makes more sense. I tend to do things backwards from time to time. I need to go and buy some tube steel for the frame ad a plate for the engine, batery and gas tank to mount to. The engine came with a working starter and wires for a headlights, voltometer and even a cigatrette lighter. I just need to figure out how to lenghten the shifter about 2 feet. I am thinking that I will have to cut it a the bend and add a joint then attach a pivit point somewhere furthur up so I don't end up with a foot of play or more just to get it in gear. I will mess with that once I get the frame built. Anyway enough of this off topic stuff.

[/ QUOTE ] Whoops - that's what I meant to say - late night last night 7" on engine and 4" on*******. Depending on the clutch set up (usually idler pulley) install the belt guide posts around the pulleys to keep the belt from falling off (pretty common problem) and for the idler use a metal pulley instead of a plastic one (common on Murray makes). To go with a longer shifter, the shift lever that is in the case has a oblong hole and rod set up will work with offsets. I think a low rider bicycle springer front would look****s up. Just my .02
